Just think of it:
The smell of real leather and plastic padding - heaven!
The sounds of fizzing electics and that Diesel Transit RAC van following a short distance behind.

I was never a scooby fan prior to being an owner. Back in December 1999 i saw pic's of the P1 in a mag. The next weekend i visited a Subaru dealer for my first go in a Subaru Impreza sport, and was so impressed considering the P1 was to be even better the deposit was in the post within a few days. Best part of all, everytime i turn the key in the ignition it brings a smile to my face.

And if you have a Chimera, while you are waiting for the AA to turn up you can play "Spot the part from another car". I have only been in a Chimera once but even I spotted the Land Rover badges on the engine and the Ford Brake Fluid Reservoir expertly siliconed into the inner wing. The owner also told me the Rear diff is from a Sierra??
Even shutting the doors makes a Scoob feel like a Rolls Royce..

Well I've got **** all money, and will probably have to buy a scooter with the cost of insurance now.
IntegraR - I will give you 6k for yours if you do buy a Scooby and a keyring.
PS There is nothing wrong with tyrekicking, it is only like looking at tv's in Dixons.

Muppet Forum? there's a Muppet Forum?
Ive been waisting my time on a seemingly sensible forum when there's a Muppet forum around?
You know, the first time I read one of your posts, I thought "if there was a Muppet forum, this guy would be right at home" and whatdoyouknow, there is one (jokes).
Are all the Muppet forum guys as wound up as you though? cause from the childhood nightmares I have of the Muppets, they were a pretty laid back bunch, and wouldnt start arguments over who kicks what tyres when..

So, the bottom line is then - it is ok to timewaste a dealer because he is paid to be timewasted.
You didn't answer what your reaction would be in the attempted private sale of your car when you get a timewaster - so I take it you agree it would be annoying to you.
Interesting moral difference......

Dream Weaver, I know your insurance woes. I had built up three years NCB, only to have someone reverse into me on a main road, and then blame me!!!
Well, my car had front damage, his rear damage, so guess who lost the case.
So now, I pay £2168.00 per year, and Im 28 years old. Makes me want to cry.
6 grand for mine? its worth at least 6 and a half, and if you pitch up just to kick the tyres, Ill phone this guy I know Dave, who gets really pissed about people like that, and he'll come over and sort you out.

Once upon a time not so long ago I had an nice little Integra typeR. Thought it was the dogs danglies.
Went for a test drive of a WRX STi "just out of interest" to see what all the fuss was over these ugly cars with the scoops.
D'oh...you can guess the rest since I'm posting on a scooby BBS. Just hope you have more self control than me .

Dave, I did explain this!! okay, picture this, I go into a Subaru dealership to look at a car. They arent busy, the salesperson is sitting around, not with any other customers, and I enquire about a car, as I said before, if the deals right, I buy.
Now, a private seller is someone who is at home, waiting for someone to come and view a car, and wishing he could be where ever it is he'd rather be. In that situation I agree, I would be wasting his time if I went purely to look, because he is put out by my actions, which is why I wouldnt do that.
But Ive said all this before, man, you are a Muppet, nothing gets in there, does it.
Have you never gone to a shop advertising things just to look? perhaps to review your options? like I said before (again), I dont go more than once every couple months, so dont make it such a big deal, were you abused by car salesmen as a child? where does all this agression come from? did someone a lomg time ago waste your time when you worked in Burger King (before you were demoted), perhaps just looked at the burgers, drove you mad.
This last part was a little mean, so I editied it, Im trying to be cool about this, but Dave man, you are really making it difficult, going into a showroon every couple months is no biggie, and by all means send this to Lancaster Subaru, I dont thin theyre bothered.

LOL
This is a public BBS where we can all come and state our opinions (within reason) and have a bit of debate and banter. Some we will agree on, some we won't, and that is what makes the world such a rich place.
I like red wine, you may like white.....but it's not worth starting World War 3 over...
Thankfully we live in a democracy and we are allowed to do this (and a special thanks to that nice Mr Webmaster )
I'm now going for a lie down because the pattern on the office carpet is making me dizzy.......

Listen here buddy, at no point did I say I prefer white wine, okay, that is just gross misrepresentation!!
Dave, I just checked out the Muppet forum, and its pretty cool. Ive got some very wierd ideas that would be at home on that forum. No hard feelings, but you are quite a frustrating person, though Im sure you were having a laff about winding me up (******* (should read b@st@rd) ).
With some people, you just dont know if they're stringing you along with their answers, so I was getting a little stressed, like trying to get my point across, then reading your next post, and be like "what!!! I just explained that!! right, Ill show him", hehe.
Perhaps Ill see you on the Muppet forum, Ill be looking out for any of your posts that I can pull apart, so beware!!

Dave man you've really got your grumpy hat on today. You must be missing the pre christmas Muppet rush.
Teg's - watch what you say about us muppets. We know where you will be on Saturday.
For the record - a good way to have a fun weekend is to organise 4 or 5 tyrekicking sessions for a Friday afternoon. Blag a test drive in something more valuable than your car and head of to another dealer in it. Keep blagging increasingly expensive motors and see what value the dealer will let you out of the forecourt. Best I've managed so far starting with 3yo Almera (4 grand) - 3 month old Primera Sport (16 grand)- 1 year old M3 (28 grand)- demonstrator mileage TVR (40 grand)- brand spanking new M5(60 grand I think). (The dealer was most confused when I show up in a TVR an hour after he lends me an M3 for the afternoon, but he wasn't sure it was me.) One of the suits I work with managed to borrow a 355 for the weekend using this method. The dealer even covered the insurance..... Way to go...

I thought you might be getting a bit hot under the collar, which not the intention, which why I lightened it up a bit....
You probably qualify for free membership of the Muppet forum if you've got some wierd ideas - but be warned - once you go over there there's no coming back....here speaks the voice of experience.....but I can take it as well as give it
Hell, I might even nip down to my local Subaru dealer on Saturday and offer to buy a MY01 - then they'll know I MUST be a time waster....
(B4 I get flamed for this by anyone else I don't actually mind the MY01.....)

Dave - this is what you get for playing in the 'proper' part of the BBS. Come on, you can tell Uncle (Muppet) Chris - who's wound you up today??

Just been to Lancasters today
There was the STi @ £28,000
There was an ex demo P1 @ £29,000
There was a MY00 (DGM) @ £2000 off list price.
There was an RB5 & a rust coloured MY00 also for sale.
& a nice shiney MY01 WRX Wagon in blue, which I have to admit looks the danglies (ride height needs lowering a tad tho).
All good VFM
There, you don't have to go now

Integra bloke - if you do go to Lancasters and actually decide to buy a super duper Scooby (go on you know you want to - go on go on!!!!) then whatever you do, don't try and haggle on the price - I tried that (very politely) and that went down like a lead baloon.
Good Luck,
Matt.

Going into a showroom and looking at cars beyond your means is not only expected, it is mandatory.
The dealers love it, you know they do. They are car nuts too and are fortunate enought to drive them around all day.
They need to be reminded that plebs like us lust after the cars that they sell. They like the sport of differentiating those-that-can from those-that-can't. The added factor of the lottery millionaires and over paid footballers just makes their job more interesting.
Besides I am sure they would rather take someone out for a blat than spend 1/2 hour talking to Mr & Mrs Bloggs about loan repayments

AHA - but commission on a finance deal pays their wages, a blat doesn't.....

A bit sweeping and stereotypical.
A i own a Scooby and do not consider myself a pleb!
IMHO
Most of the people i know in the motortrade float from dealership to dealership dependant on whether they hit target, smash the bosses car up or can get more money elsewhere. i do not know one of car nut amongst the ones i know (20 or so i recon), they would be just happy selling any make as long as it pays well. This is not meant to offend car sales people, just my experience.
And as for look at cars beyond my means as manadtory - You MUST be joking - better things to do in my spare time.
Is it still school hols?

Well, I dont care what anyone says, and I am now more determined than ever to go into all the car dealers I can, just to inquire long and hard about cars that I either cant afford, or wouldnt want anyway.
Dave, you HAVE to get a job as a car salesman, you would be the most brutal guy to buy a car from, "morning sir, nice day, isnt it, can I help? oh, just looking are we, GET THE F*CK OUT OF MY SHOWROOM".
