Come on. I was just having a laff. Perhaps the entire message should have been peppered with 's

On a more serious note, it *is* the more mundane things in all our jobs that pays the money. We get to do the bits we like so will tolerate the boring bits.

Let me make this clear: Going into a dealers to waste the salesmans time is not on. Going in to dream is.

Going in to Marranello Concessionaires because you lust after a Ferrari is healthy. If you strike up a rapport with the dealer, where will you go if & when you can afford the car. There is a dealer in Bramley (Surrey) that has no qualms about "plebs" walking around his (frankly amazing) collection of cars. Why? Think posh car, think Bramley. Easy. If the salesmen have a problem with this, then they should consider their vocation carefully.

TERROR!!
I do like the idea of having more saleswomen around though, that'd get me into a lot more delaerships on a more regular basis, but that hard sell stuff is just going to make it more awkward for decent folk like myself to waste salespeoples time.
Still, I like a challenge, and the prospect of more woman in the showrooms has certainly tweaked my interest, Ill be pushing for equality in showrooms across the country.
Now, I dont mean that lame "we need an equal amount of woman in showrooms, nag, nag" kind of equality cr@p, I mean the kind of equality that says if they've got big breasts and blonde hair, get them in the showrooms!!
No ugly womans lib types, and any bra burning had better be happenning around my place, or no sale.

Please note: if anyone who happens to be female reads the above, it was meant in a humourous, and highly respectful way, with maximum appreciation for the plight of woman as they battle for equality in a male dominated world, and was not meant to imply that girls with big breasts and blonde hair are any better than a normal "girl next door" looking one.......though really, they are.

Actually writing my last whilst you were posting yours Dave. It becomes clear that we are agreed on this one.

Everyone who comes through the door is a potential customer. If not now, at some time in the future.

Your job as a salesman is to make the sale, you won't do this by telling someone to bugger off.

You make more money from people whom can least afford the cars (and have to take out finance), and are doing yourself a disservice if you are arrogant and haughty with people. They will remember. If you treat them with respect then they will return.

I still remember the name of the chap that took me out for a demo in an Impreza over a year ago. It was because of him I drive one now. It is a regret of mine that I didn't buy one off him, but paying 6K for a bit of loyalty is nonsense, besides his dealers have made money from me subsequently. I could not afford one at the time, but when I could, ipso facto, I bought one.
Thank-you Fred at B&C.

KF.

p.s. Paul. I thank-you for your belittling remark.

In two minds about this thread and I know Dave isn't being entirely serious (are you Dave?? ). However must agree with you about that dealership in Bramley - what a fantastic place!! Always remember that he had a Porsche 959 down there and loads of other incredible cars (Ferrari's, Aston's etc). I have to admit that on more than one occasion, I have just wondered in there and looked around

OK guys, time for me to relieve some of Mr T-S frustration. I would suggest a night of passion, but so soon after Christmas....

Perhaps I'll just leave him to you lot

Cool

KF,

I bought mine from Fred at Bell & Colvill too!! Really nice guy and didn't even mind letting my girlfriend have a drive too. Didn't even moan when she took it over 100MPH.

I would still be going to them if there service department were even half competent....

Carolyn T-S, you may suggest a night of passion to relieve some of the frustration generated by Mr T-S if you like but where are you going to get a plane ticket to Belfast this late on a Friday night?

Ah yes, the old sewing machine comparison.
Those Honda guys took forever with my car, but I got to know the Bexleyheath high street pretty well.
I went by the Scooby dealership at about 1-30PM, but didnt see anyone around, and I had to do "girlfriend stuff" for most of the afternoon to compensate for a morning sitting in S2000's etc.
Still, I dont think I could part with my Integra just yet. The buzz of a sewing machine is just too exciting to give up, and bsides, Ive heard a few former Impreza owners have changed over to tegs, so who knows, maybe you lot will be upgrading to what I have?

Guys/Girls, Can I tell you a story? One day in January 1999 I went and bought myself a brand new Impreza Turbo '99 Spec. Sold it in September 2000 (a house purchase came in between my car and me). But bought another one two months later after a trip to MacDonalds (Subaru garage was next to MacDonalds you see). That's what happens when you go to garages with no intentions of buying.

Story behind me buying my MY97 Wagon goes like this..........
Girlfriend comes home Fri night and says "I've changed my mind about us, I dont feel the same"
Sat morning I pack and leave... Sat afternoon I test drive scoob... Monday morning I put deposit down... next Sat I buy it and spend the next 6 wks loving it.... don't get me wrong I miss the bird but ask me to make a choice...??? I dunno what I'd have!!
Moral of story....... never walk past a dealership and threaten to live your dreams.....

Thats the Tesco's I frequent. I may not be able to beat your Scooby in a straight line, but I have been known to get from the Fruit and Veg department to the Bread department quicker than any other trolley in there.
I feel the need to kick tyres even more after missing Saturday, this Saturday I am definitely going to go and bug a salesperson somewhere.
I now have my heart set on an S2000 in a couple years, there is a hard topped one in Whitehouse Honda Bexleyheath, that I had a pretend drive in (sat at the wheel, adjusted seat/mirrors, wiggled till I got comfy, checked she was in neutral, put it into a few gears..... and then got out), they are lovely cars, though 2 seats can be a little restrictive.
Its not that I have plans for kids or anything, but three in a bed sex would be out of the question, unless I could convince one of the girls to take the bus back to mine
Only problem with looking at cars is that you have to make out that you are interested in everything. You've gone all that way to look at a certain car, and when you get there, you have to show a huge amount of interest. Its difficult, you crouch down to look at the wheels, yip, those are wheels, then look through the window, yip, seats are all there, then sit in it, and adjust things as if you are about to nik the thing.
Well, its a dirty job, but someone has to do it.

Hi Guys first post from a newbie.

I went to a subaru dealership to blag a test drive and fell in love with a scoobie. I have now progressed to longing for an sti, however i have promised my wife we will pay off the exisiting car loan b4 going for a new one. 3 years left bummer. Perhaps I should not of told her I wanted to make extra paymants into the mortgage. I could have bought somthing better.
Still cant grumble as my mortgage is less than the cost of a new P1
