Glad you are okay!

I think people assume that a road will be clear, like the people who still do 100mph when they can only see 3car lengths through the fog... as long as they can see to keep it in a lane they don't worry... mandness. This wasn't even foggy though.
Well done on avoiding the other cars ahead.. I always try and leave lots of room and think in a similar way that if hit you want to stop in all the available space to try not to damage the back of your car too much or hit another car, person etc..

Would you like your original wheels back to put on it when it goes?

Question

Haven't you used them yet?

Not sure if you would want the gold ones mate, as they were coming up for new rubber, at least on the front. That and the lady boogered the right rear alloy too mate.

Cheers,

Nick

I ran them for about 6,000miles of leisurely driving which is what the car gets used for during the summer as I ride the bike then and just use the scooby for transporting the family.
When it got to December and I was using the Scooby everyday I got bored with the wibbly handling and stuck some MY99 wheels on it like your's only silver.

I thought if the gold ones were fine you might have wanted to keep them.. I don't want them no.

Your old wheels are currently in the garage doing nothing.. tyres still got loads of tread.. I shall probably never use them.

So you are planning to buy another Scooby?

You mentioned before about the ridiculas insurance. As you are not driving the scooby at the moment you will not be use to the power so could get a standard UK one and pay less insurance for a year or so?? then modify it? to go from a powerful car to one with less power is horrible but with a month or two gap shouldn't be a problem.

Standard UK one?(Shudder). Not fussed about the insurance, as I was not at fault, so the no claims will not be affected. I am not going down to anything below 260bhp, so a UK one is not on the cards, besides, I had gotten used to the extra toys that mine had compared to the older UK ones

She is going with the wheels, and redstuff&greenstuff, but I have already removed the STI4 spoiler, Blitz nur spec R&Scoobysport Downpipe, Blitz BOV, Vented and Grooved discs, momo steering wheel&**** etc.....

Tell you what though, those old tyres had 10 times more grip than the Potenza(lly) lethal RE10's that came with the 16's!

Cheers anyway,

Nick

Yeah I realise it is not your fault and not going to effect your insurance much. I thought I read in a previous thread that you were thinking of selling it and one of the reason was due to the insurance cost...

I think I must have been running them at the wrong pressures then as the grip when I changed to the RE011's was an improvement...
The grip was better when towing across a muddy field but on the road it was worse.

RE11's will probably last until the summer when I might either get replacement tyres or another set of secondhand alloy's... 17's perhaps...

Hope the insurance pays out soon

JGM

Unhappy

Well, I have just watched her getting taken away to the Salvage Yard. Scrabbling for grip and spinning her wheels like a goodun climbing up onto the wet top floor of a big lorry loader. The guy had to keep stopping as she was scaring him too much, he said it was much more fun than using the winch though!
Neighbours that I didn't even know came out to talk to me and say goodbye too...
I feel so gutted now it's untrue. I never thought that I would feel this heartbroken again over a car.
It's sad when you someone my size starts crying over a piece of metal, but there you go.....

Cheers,

Nick
