Im a little worried about my brother too. He lives near Adelaide now, so hopefully not at riask.
Don't think I've seen reports affecting Adelaide in any big way, and anyway, the big cities are unaffected (Apart from the emotion) by this event. It's 99% rural Victoria.
All the fires in NSW are under control now, and we've had some rain and very cool temperatures, so that'll help.
But I agree with 4_play, if you build in a fire prone zone, expect fire (However it starts). I used to live in Wellington, NZ. We'd get an earthquake, one we could feel anyway, almost every other day. The "big one" is just around the corner.
Les, yes, that is a new study/report, I read it somewhere don't recall as there are so many now. In conjunction with a low cycle PDO, as well as being pretty "close" to the Sun too.
But, it's looking like many, far too many fires, were started by a person, a very sick person.
Yes Klaatu, no argument on how the fire were started. I was commenting on the extreme effects of the fires compared with those in a normal year.
Mrs Leslie lived in Wellington for seven years and she well remembers all the mini earthquakes. She said you just get used to it. Hope it doesn't suddenly all combine into a monster one anyway.
