The two Spec C's sold on Pistonheads approx 2 to 3 months ago are both members on here. Iv spoken to both of them in the past & dont want to give exact figures for them, but they were between £17k to £19k & both sold by same private dealer.

Fair enough - dealer prices tend to be a little higher.

However, how old were the cars? I appreciate that my car was a very early Hawkeye, but evidence is that I just did not get the price and none of the dealers were interested in buying my car from me, at any price.

I think these cars are the type that someone will want it specefically & want it without a doubt. These buyers come along once in a while, but will pay near asking price. I dont think its the type of car that you can advertise in autotrader & by lowering the price weekly that normal joe public buyers will suddenly take interest. Unless its going for peanuts! So if selling one I would work out the current market price & stick to that or very slightly below & wait. Someone who wants one will pay the money but those buyers are few & far between, but once they do come they will pay near asking price.

I think they were sold thorough J performance. They put the price up on those by £1000 at the time as they were the only Hawkeye Spec c's available at the time.

Being one of the mentioned buyer of a spec C from J performance

I can say that, yes i did have the choice to go for a uk car or for that matter a JDM STI (would have been much cheaper!!!) and then start modding it.
But the fact was that i didnt want to go that route, i just wanted to get a standard-ish spec C, with the standard suspension, brakes etc but with a bit more go. As it would be a bit more exclusive
It was a case that i looked around for a few weeks before i finally decided buying the one i have now. So as Rickya said those who want one will buy them.
Even contemplated getting a very high spec Type R, but after having one of them before thought i'd go for something newer.

I didnt pay the advertised price but paid what i thought was fair value for the car i have, so that keeps me happy.

Like they say "you pay your money, you make your choice"

I guess the months that I spent trying to sell my car at very sensible prices (compared to yours) were simply the months that no-one wanted to buy one then

Still, they are great cars
