I thought I'd better resurrect this thread after watching 'Danny Dyer's Deadliest Men' again last night.

God he gets on my ****! It was about David McMillan last night, a drug smuggler with plenty of stories to tell - I just wish we could have heard half of them without Danny Dyer's enormous ego being shoved in out faces. He has to be the most irritating ***** on tv!

It's embarrassing watching him to be honest. Playing the "cockney geezer" with blokes who you get the impression would: a) just laugh at him, or b) flatten him were it not for the fact that he is their ticket to a bit of notoriety by getting to recount their mis-spent and shady pasts on national TV.

As far as I can make out, many of the participants on that show are little more than thugs.

Should we really be putting some of these people on a pedestal for a growing culture of 'ard men wannabes to aspire to, I wonder?

Maybe he's a really nice guy.....sorry, "Diamond geezer" in the real world, but on that show he just comes across as a prize plonker who has ideas well above his station!

Spot on NS04. But the guy last night was in a different league. Not a wannabe gangster but someone who was very intelligent, and who had seen and done just about everything he could have in his world. I'm not saying we should be glorifying a drug smuggler, but it is something that interests me.

Danny Dyer really doesn't get much out of his interviewees.

Exactly: he's too busy kissing up to them (maybe understandable given some of their backgrounds lol) or indulging in his little "I'm a bit of a naughty boy too" ego trip.

Some of the characters are indeed interesting, I only object personally when these kinds of programs are presented or embellished in such a way that makes the criminal some kind of pseudo-aspirational figure.

Too many POS role models in our society as it is, IMHO!
