thats what i mean theres lots of ins and out and reasons for that.
really and trully we dont belive in sex before marriage i.e you end with single mothers not a bad thing at as a lot of single mothers do well, but in my house hold my mum tought me respect and my dad tought me discpline in diffrent house holds its the other way round. imagine what affect for a kid to live with out a dad. it wont make him a bad kid at all but its just not good for a child to see all his friends with dads and he hasnt got one. or even during eid, devali or christmas time its supposed to be a family thing..

I understand what you are saying, J4CKO. Due to the shocking number of hounour based crimes and forced marriages, The Forced Marriage Act is in force in Britain, since November 2008. You will find exceptions, but generally speaking, on relationship issues, Asian cultures are far stricter than other cultures. I am an Asian and I can confirm that. I have no hesitation in accepting the shortcomings of my cultures and the likes, either. Cross-cultural marriages are becoming more acceptable as the time progresses.

some time people mix culture religon and tradition and them 3 things should never be mixed, if islam was the bad religon then it wouldnt be the fastest growing religon in the world. either people are getting thick and converting or just looking at it with an open mind and and accepting that islam fills the gap in there lifes.

Hmm.......I think "should never......" is a bit strong. These three things may not be connected in all circumstances, but can be interconnected in many circumstances.

You said it. Both reasons have their place (seperately or together), where it comes to converting

You talked about open mind But if any religion (accepted for conversion, with open mind) closes your mind to everything else around, surely that can't be right. Not that you said it, but just a thought on people confining themselves in the boxes of different religions, that's all.

I think sex before marraige is fine but agree about the unwanted pregnancies and STD's, I think people given an inch, take a mile so the freedom gets abused and we end up with 13 year old kids with kids, I can see how for a Muslim this would look like the ultimate recommendation for an Islamic way of life but we aren't all like this, I managed to wait for kids until marriage but we had lived together for a while beforehand, I think you need to know if you are sexually compatible before marriage, also there are plenty of couples that are stronger without being married than those that are, it is more about individuals taking responsibility than others enforcing control, trouble is a lot of people cant be trusted not to abuse their freedom.

I have to agree it is a difficult situation. I'm a hindu and have a muslim boyfriend, yes it is a big no no but times are different now and society is alot more accepting towards it. You still get the odd ignorant look but it just goes to show how closed minded some people can be. I'm not very religious and neither is my partner but thats what works for us I guess.

I think as long as the couple and their familes are happy thats all that matters...most families do come round especially after grandchildren...lol

Arrow Allport's Scale

Allport's Scale is a measure of the manifestation of prejudice in a society.

Growing from left to right.

Antilocution - > Avoidance --> Discrimination ---> Physical Attack ----> Extermination.

Scale 1, Antilocution

Antilocution means a majority group freely make jokes about a minority group. Speech is in terms of negative stereotypes and negative images. This is also called hate speech. It is commonly seen as harmless by the majority. Antilocution itself may not be harmful, but it sets the stage for more severe outlets for prejudice.

Scale 2 Avoidance

People in a minority group are actively avoided by members of the majority group. No direct harm may be intended, but harm is done through isolation.

Scale 3 Discrimination

Minority group is discriminated against by denying them opportunities and services and so putting prejudice into action. Behaviours have the specific goal of harming the minority group by preventing them from achieving goals, getting education or jobs, etc. The majority group is actively trying to harm the minority.

Scale 4 Physical Attack

The majority group vandalise minority group things, they burn property and carry out violent attacks on individuals or groups. Physical harm is done to members of the minority group. Examples are lynchings of blacks, pogroms against Jews in Europe, tarring and feathering Mormons in 1800s and British Loyalists in the 1700s.

Scale 5 Extermination

The majority group seeks extermination of the minority group. They attempt to eliminate the entire group of people (e.g., Indian Wars to remove Native Americans, Final Solution to the Jewish Question in Germany, The Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire and the Rwandan Genocide).

That IS interesting mate - I honestly though that would have made you 'narrower'. Pls explain more?!

My attitude to the world/culture is so similar to yours - although, simplistically, I tend to discount religion and just look at the people and how they think and behave.

I have two particularly lovely mates from Jordan - honestly, you couldn't wish to meet nicer people, so well mannered, caring , friendly, warm and mild mannered etc And then I go and shudder when I see a woman totally enrobed in dark cloth, crossing the street in my own Welsh town, only the whites of her eyes visible, and I think oppression/subjugation/de-humanisation. Its so tough to balance, but I think we need more like you - there was a chap before 'Aaquil' - so please keep going, because when I shudder the rest of the community does far more...

why is every1 so concerened about muslims/islam? why dont you try & worry more about your own community/culture if you lot got1. you ask why all these questions...can i ask a few why do non muslims "kaffirs" the words for you lot go out get pissed and end up sleeping with your mum, sisters aunts etc?? you like the stuff that happens in eastenders. i think you lot are jealous because islam is set example on how to live a life as you kaffirs have no guidance to life lol.

muslims rule & islam will take over the whole world thats a fact. all you kaffirs will convert to islam on the day of judgement.

what a disgusting society who eat the most disgusting animal on earth.

i feel very offended by this thread & hope my post offends you Fokerz aswell

There's a muslim woman who I work with who, when dispelling myths about the muslim culture, explained simply that the females cover up as all women are considered either beautiful or more beautiful.

That;s a nice sentiment, but they are not, are they!!! Take a look at No 13 in Tam's thread for e.g

It's total male dominance and oppression - its meant to discourage infidelity. I'm sure it works, but its no way to live IMHO. When the penalty for adultery is already stoning to death, that is already a pretty good discouragement for a 'broken home' !!! [And you also ain't allowed to talk to strange men (like shopkeepers!)...]

Or does it just tackle the known weakness of man head on and nip it in the bud? Maybe someone who has been the wrong side of an affair would have a different view?

Safe flight Mus.
