Exclamation Looking at this from another direction

Having spent a year in Dubai i was always able to get pork and pork related products in the supermarkets there. The pork section was usually seperate, not hidden just you had to look for it. This is in mainstream stores and supermarkets.

Muslims did not have a problem catering for those who chose a different path to theirs.

My parents used to keep their own animals for food. When the time came, said animals would have their throats cut and be bled. Not halal, not kosher, just good, old-fashioned English food. And hung in the kitchen for a week or so - not like the rubbish meat you get from most supermarkets these days.

some people on this thread need to go and meet some muslim families, not all muslim people are on benfits, not all muslim women sit at home, how do you think some of us muslim people buy and mod subarus???

in regards to halal meat now if its carried out in the correct way then its the quickest way for the animal to die.

the correct manner is the animal must be fit for slaughter once the animal is seen fit then he would be put on the ground held and slaughterd with a very sharp knife, the knife has to be perfect i.e sharp with no defects. and the animal thats been slaughterd should never see the knife and shouldnt know what about to happen to him so it doesnt cause any stress to the animal, once the animal throat has been cut it looses all feeling to his body so its a pain less death thats the correct islamic way of slaughtering obviously not anyone shoould do it, it has to be a rightous man and you must call in gods name when your making the slaughter, unfortunately not all muslims are perfect in perfecting it. but think about when your shaving and cut your self you dont even relise youve cut yourself due to the razor been so sharp. also when slaughtering you dont cut anywhere in the throat like they do in the non halal slauhgter houses, there is a particular place where you cut.

if you were stunned then hanged upside down then got your throat slit now that would be one painfull death.and its only the MUSLIMS that do it this way, the jews also carry out a similar procedure and how do you think.

stunning doesnt mean the animal is dead or some like to say brain dead, the animal is a live and wounded and if it recieved medical help then it could recover in a very short time. thats why we muslims dont approve of stunning.

just want to say sorry if my post has offended anyone. just had to give my opinion on the matter

Dubai is hardly an example of a normal Muslim country!!

When I worked in Morocco I never demanded or asked for anything different than the locals ate. I looked at it as it was not my country, so not my place to change things.

In these sort of places, you'd be well advised to 'do as the locals do'. For instance, I got spat at for drinking some water during Ramadan on serveral occasions. I'm not Muslim, so my beliefs meant nothing..

Ok, Dubai is an example of a moderate Muslim country much like the UK is a moderate western country.

Ramadan is an important religious time, perhaps you should have shown some respect and understanding of their religion by not drinking in front of Muslims.

Well typing that was a waste of 5 minutes of your life Mus

The Halal/Kosher slaughtering procedure has already been explained at length at least four times previously in this thread, to no avail

As ever nobody knows what's best better than an ill-informed (self)righteous 'True Brit' on a rant

I cant say I am decided either way in terms of Halal and Kosher, whether its any more or less cruel than the stun/bolt method but all the discussion about it being used in Subway seems quite hypocritical when most of us quite happily eat curry prepared by Muslims, either delivered to our home or table in a restaurant and I expect most if not all of that will be Halal, same with a lot of the Kebab places etc.

I would like to point out that Morocco is backwards and apart from the berbers most of the people there are a pain in the ****. I absolutely hate the place and its a terrible example of any type of country.

man that sad my dad went to morroco and he visited faas, agadir, marakish and he said it was a nice place yes they were a few crooks along the way but then again people need to survive some parts of it are 3rd world. and sometimes when you dont speak the language it really doesnt help it only makes things harder, or even if you have a diffrent arabic accent to them they tend to think that you have money. i think if you went with an arabic speaking guy then maybe you could of had a better time and saved lots of money as they could of done all the hagaling for you.

I respect what you say, and the way you explain it. To me however being unconscious and unable to feel the knife going across your neck, slashing the arteries and causing blood to pour down your windpipe surely has to be a bonus? Surely its kinder and less traumatic? Although I like the nod to the importance of compassion in Halal - its just a bit outdated maybe (for no malicious reason).

Of course the future answer to these differences of opionion is a de-oxygenating chamber - no violence, blood, weapons (or SN clashes!) there! They could just nod off peacefully due to the lack of oxygen...

I thought most of the people were very nice. They just didn't like 'outsiders' not doing things their way. Its their country, so fair enough.

But then you'd find someway to disagree with me what ever I said. Shame you can't infract me anymore.
