The wheels do rotate by hand but the motor does not rotate too.
The male connector on one side goes to the on/off switch, the other goes to the part labelled "crystal" Can't find a reset unfortunately.

sounds like its overheated somewhere, the motor will only rotate 'freely' i its a brushless system, let it all cool down and try again

Nr Truro - WG is about 20 mins away. Will try not to inconvenience you and get it sorted before but may need that offer of help if I get nowhere - much appreciated!

Iain - got it sorted. Bought another ECS plus a fan and being very cautious.

Here's a couple of vids of it - I got nowhere near full throttle but still flipped it!
Sorry for the terrible filming. I also did 10fps instead of 30 to save file size:

YouTube - XSTR flip

YouTube - XSTR hedge crash

Arrgghhh - the fun didn't last long! Just stripped the pinion gear!

I have ordered two - I now realise it's best to have a spare of everything!!

Oh well - TBH, I quite enjoy fettling a little bit. That'll be the nerd in me...!

Think I need to practise a bit more before I race though. At the moment I'm just trying not to crash it.

its important to get a good mesh, not too tight just a fraction of play. It is a different kettle of fish once you get out onto a track with other cars, to help you learn you should make up some tracks wherever you practice and practice going round!

Think I did it up too tight.

Jamie - too noisy, too expensive. It's only for a bit of a laugh.

Where I used to race there was only a couple of lads who were actually sponsored and went away to race but they would usually buy two chassis - one to run, one for parts.

I miss it greatly but when I was doing rallycross it would take two solid evenings to clean and prep the car and then pretty much out from 8 till 8 every Sunday. My GF never really complained but it became one of those "issues" that married couples/long termers tend to have from time to time

Edd - well I managed to work out how to get it out (took some effort though!) and the car is currently in many bits on the floor. Had a few hiccups but it should be fine - spur gears should arrive today and also discovered the benefit of proper hex scredrivers over allen keys!
