Your display on SN tonight has highlighted why you got the response you got at your local nick.

Ranting, abusive and rude people tend to get treated with less credibility than those that can construct a valid point and case.

Officer: Did you commit GBH on the little **** and admit it was premeditated on the internet?

V7: Yes. But a bloke on an internet forum was totally useless/unhelpfull/degrading/typical of what to expect of the police here in the uk so it's not my fault.

Stick with that story, son.

I did mean to ask, did your mother get away with the assualt she committed in the supermarket car park a few months ago?

im with webby on this one the police are worse than useless and i wouldn't p*** on one if he was on fire, i hate the lot of them and have no time at all for them.
they all seem to be jumped up little hitlers that only do something if it means it can be done sitting down or in front of a pc screen.
they weren't worried when my car got stolen yet when i'm caught doing 43mph in a 40 they think i'm some sort of major criminal
what would it take for them to send a car with a couple of coppers and at least give the tosser a warning, oh wait yeah it needs a kid to be knocked doesn't it they obviously don't believe in prevention then.

Anyone who is arguing with V7, grow up

This guy lives in the bloody area, you dont... He has to put up with these idiots, and the only people who can actually help, are the police, who are a bunch of useless c*nts

I swear with all these chavs and idiots around, people are going to start taking things into their own hands, and there will be a revolution

If these idiots have enough money to own a sports car, then im sure they can spend some money on going to a track to mess about... or at least have the common sense not to drive like total pr*cks in areas where there are children and other people

I know exactly how V7 feels, people need to learn respect. Thank God I dont live in the UK anymore

Feel for you mate. Its not easy trying to get the police to listen but as suggested you would be better taking the problem higher to your local MP or even out them in the press.

In the area I live in there is a road that all the racers tear along at stupid speeds, at least 30 people have been killed on that road due to speeders losing control and killing themselves or others over the years. There has been hundreds of complaints about the road and petitions etc, calling for the road to be up graded, remove the corners where all the accidents happen etc. What happened nothing not until a Police car hit and kill a teenage pedestrian, then the speed limit was dropped to a 50 like that will make people stop speeding

The police either don't give a damn or are scared of the paper work
Only interested in doughnuts and coffee. "No fine no crime" sums them up all together

Lets be honest, most of the public feel like the Police are no good, for various reasons, me personally, i will never ever help them again after the last lot of complete and utter bollocks i had to go through with some random, who never even lived at my address.

The police ****ed me off, every time we complained, simply brushed it under the carpet, so i would assume that they tend to do the same with others (maybe as seen in this thread?)

they will lose in the long run as the public will not want to help them in the future.

and they do ask the public for help!

i get the impression that we are supposed to be in awe of the officers, and help them with everything and anything, looking up to them as they are the bollocks, well i am sorry, but them days have long since gone, and nowadays the coppers would appear to deserve quite a bit less respect then days of old.

I have never had any problem with the price until i started driving then noticed they were complete idiots

Recently, a bunch of yoofs were messing about on the streets outside my house and blocking the roads with traffic cones etc. I called the police to come have a noisey as i was geniunely concerned of one of them getting knocked down let alone the damage they were causing. Police made me give my name and house number ourelse they wouldn't come out. Needless to say my car was damaged by these wee ******* the next day. I wonder where they got the information on who touted on them?

See my "I've become Victor Meldrew" thread:

I complained to the police about some lads screaming around a mult-storey car park and they were there about a minute after I got off the phone. Well done to Herts Police.

I'm no fan of what the modern British police force has become, but it's a bit much to label ALL of them as c*ck heads because of this one incident.

COr blimey. Proof if ever needed that there is a right and wrong way to go about things.

Thaaaaaaats right, all police are *****, and do nothing at all. Yes 95% of people on here LOVE watching Road Wars, Interceptors, StreetCrime UK etc..... all programs showing the police not only doing an amazing job, but also one that a LOT of people on here would never have the ***** to do....

I can understand the people who choose not to have a friendly relationship with the police, and am sure that if anything ever happened to them, you and your mates would just take the law into your own hands and solve everything eh............ Zzzzz

As for the OP, it sounds like a serious issue there mate, and I hope you get it sorted soon, especially before there is an accident. But remember the police dont make the rules, they are just told to uphold them, and sadly in a lot of cases, their hands are tied and they are as frustrated as the rest of the public by the people being let go all the time.

Given the amount of calls I have placed to the Police in my many years of adulthood, I have usually been impressed and pleased with their responses. Sadly, whenever I have been in court to follow up on some of these matters, its REALLY depressing to see case after case be thrown out, go unpunished or under punished.

There have been some bad ones of course... But few and far between.

I am clearly a bad person though, as I applied for the Met a couple of years back. Its ok now though, I feel better about myself and receive regular councelling.

I see this has got no better over night.
First The image of the number plate.
Its a Surrey police vehicle, it was stuck on by a kid, picture taken and posted on the internet, for the rest of time people can now comment on how 3000 officers "dont care about the public"

Second
How outrageous a statement would this be.
"I needed some help with my car, I went to the mechanic and he was useless, ALL mechanics are fat stupid uneducated morons who lie about the work your car needs and basically steal off you"

Stupid right, just because I had a couple of bad experiences with mechanics that fit that above.

Last of all, As I said last night webby PM me if you want some proper legal advice, I will give it to you for free, saving you £300 P/H.
I have often thought if people police bash without having worked as an officer for a few months then they really need to get back into there box. Everyone can have a bad experience with any profession but to tar over 3000 people with that brush is just childish.

If you knew how there hands were tied, if you knew exactly how the law of land is written and how they have to work to that law then you would understand that its the law makers that make life difficult.
If you go up to ANYONE regardless of there job with the attitude "your useless" and you expect the best from them think again.
Police are massively under paid for what they do.
You can think to yourself they sit around and drink coffee the reality is very very different.
I worked in a major uk force for a few years, I had to leave due to injury on duty, an injury that has effected the rest of my life, One that will prevent me from ever being a happy active father. I can tell you the things I saw and the things I had to deal with are over and above anything 90% of the country will ever have to see.

The people that voice opinion about hating the police are the minority, much the same as your boss at work will seldom say "good work" but if you mess up will be the first to shout at you.

Now I will leave my rant here and again say, I will offer proper legal advice for free if you want it webby.

Reading through the emotion here i can understand why webby is annoyed.

He reports dangerous driving

A child is injured

He takes, videos and pictures

Reports it to the police several times

Essentially does everything they ask for and they tell him he might have faked his own video?!

Finally he feels he has no option but to warn the guy himself (ok i suspect going on the posts this was more than a quiet word)

Police finally turn up to speak to him about breach of the peace/threatening behaviour what evert hey called it.

To be honest the cops do not look good here. Seems like webby has been on the ned of some shocking service.

Reminds me of the story earlier in the week of the bloke getting done for breach of the peace because he flushed a dealer's stash down the pan after the police failed to do anything.

I have as much respect for the work the cops do as anyone but i think it is clear that mistakes have been made here. A bit of common sense would have told them howthis would look. I assume officers are still allowed to use commonsense as part of their duties?

If i were webby i'd be speaking to the local rag.

What you have to remember here is that there have been many offences shown on shows such as Road Wars... From start of offence to arrest. Caught on TV quality camera's, in car camera's and witnessed by 2-3 cops and the film crew.... At the end of the segment you find out the case was thrown out due to lack of evidence...

My point is, its not how the police act, its how the courts will treat it. Sadly with stretched resources, and limited powers, and of course a court system that will just release these people, its not THAT easy to make something stick.

It does need to stop, there is no doubt. But if the people are rounded up and arrested, would the locals give evidence, and how would they then feel, after disclosing who they are to the criminals..... the magistrate throws it out.

Its far from a perfect world, but 95%+ of the police work hard, and want the best.

Agreed snazy however, if they can find the time and resources to come round and speak to webby would they not have been better off employing the same time and resources following up his well documented complaint in the first place before it escalated?

Seems like they have taken the word of a right toad and immediately acted on it while ignoring the genuine issues of a concerned citizen even though a child has been injured.

That said, i still doubt webby had 'a quiet word' which may be part of the cause.

Good to hear that! Similar thing happened on another thread - a 'conclusive' picture of a kid's arm being purposefully driven over by a truck as punishment for stealing. Then you notice the microphone in dad's hand as it was a sideshow stunt!

Never had any bother with cops - even when punished! My mate, who's a copper, is very disillusioned though. I think it varies with region tbh.

My brother-in-law and best mate are both Met coppers, one is TSG and the other is a Chief Inspector so I like to think that over the years I've got to know what a difficult and thankless task being a copper can be given the law and resources that they work with.

They've both been through things I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy, they've both suffered abuse from the public, they've both been confronted with guns and knives, they've both suffered injuries at work. On the other hand they've also both captured drug dealers, burglars, rapists and paedophiles to name but a few of society's worst.

Who do you think would do this if there weren't people around like them who do it? Would all you of you lot who criticise be prepared to even do one day as a copper? Could you really do it any better given the constraints that they have?

Remember one thing, when the police arrive on a scene they have no idea who is telling the truth unless they've actually seen the alleged offence. They're not mind readers and nor do they work at their best when confronted with members of the public ranting at them.

I have nothing but respect for our police and have never in my 45 years on this planet had a run in with them or met a bad copper. I've found that by treating them with respect and in a sensible manner I've been treated the same way back.

I can totally appreciate why you are wound up mate. But, if you spoke to the Police in the manner that you have been posting on here, you only have yourself to blame.

You are not a minority. This sort of thing happens day in day out all over the country. How would you feel if all you ever got was abuse from the public? The police, believe it or not, are human. If you treat them like crap, expect the same in return. It shouldn't happen, but it is a fact of life.

My take. If someone has been injured, and you have footage of the morons cocking around and the police are simply not interested, go to the local media. Phone the local paper/tv station, speak to a reporter there, explain things in a calm manner, state you have footage. Headlines such as "Police ignore XXXXXX" tend to get people's attention, and thus can make good news.

Posting it on YouTube does possibly have it's merits as well, a bit of viral could cause news sites and such to pick up on it as well, again garnering bad press for those who allegedly have not done anything to address the situation.

I do agree with others, that if you spoke to the police in the manner you posted on here, that it would not have helped in the slightest. No-one likes somebody ranting and raving at them, and most of us have a tendency to ignore the requests of those who act like this, or perhaps process their requests at a slower pace than normal.

As with any profession, there will always be a number of idiots who give a bad name to all the hard working types. You always hear about the bad ones, but very, very rarely hear about the good ones. I've had the odd brush with the police and have been treated very well. I also know a few people who are in the force and they are solid gold.

Webby7 etc.

I can understand exactly how you feel about the total inertia and lack of any kind of concrete action after the complaints and offered evidence etc. I would feel just as annoyed and frustrated as you about it.

I feel it is an example of dereliction of duty and I would be tempted to write to the local press about it.

Would it not be possible for you to get the signatures from as many people as possible and take this to the Police? If it is just one persones word you might be down on the things to do agenda, if you get 50 people or so involved it might force the Police to move up a gear and start a formal investigation.
