right i dont know much about rolex so i wouldnt know the cheapest to the most expensive in the range....so iam guessing the daytona is that the daddy lol?if not why is it the one which is brought up in this thread?

stainless steal DAYTONA were the cheapest in the range (I paid £2505 in 1994) but had to wait two years for it.
some F1 teams bought them up for the 'team' etc.
you can get the bi metal and gold etc no problem.
SS went to 4 yrs waiting list. I think the book on dealers has closed now. As places like GOLDSMITHS only get one watch per year!!

As you know the real deal will start its stopwatch function at the press of button A and stop on the next press of button A.
Button B will then reset the stopwatch and sub dials to zero by means of :flyback:
Sub dial 1 counts mins, and subdial 2 hours.
If your turkey moves its subdials via button 1, it is of very poor quality and most likely Chinese of origin.
Dont get it wet.
Some turkeys are one to one copies with no deviation whatsoever from the original and even jewellers can be fooled but you can pay upto $600 for them.
Highend swiss turkeys can be viewed here, they are listed as SWISS but are actually copies of swiss movements 1 to 1, they also trade rubbish as you will see by the prices and listing of ASIAN movement.

I'd consider buying a Seadweller (older style) but only buy one out of curiosity, TBH, for comparison purposes. Just to see how good it actually was.
Otherwise you are just kidding yourself, you'd always know it was a fake and passing it off as real is a bit patheric IMO.

There's some Rolex replicas I've see that are garunteed waterproof to 30 metres which I suppose is more than enough for the avarage man, I'll find the link when I get home.

Yeah most of the reps are 30m odd waterproof.
My advice would be to open them up yourself and use new, decent gaskets and lube/grease on the case back and crown/stem, then close them nice and firm. Unless there are gaping holes in it or the crown doesn't screw in then they should be good for bathing.

Remember that 30 metres is really only splash proof. To swim you need 100 metres minimum and youd be better off with a 'professional'/200 metres rating.

Nat that seller/shop is one of the expensive ones too! I bought a Tag Carrera off that auction site for £35, just as a cheep watch, which is automatic goes well too, i opened the back up and you can see why its cheap, it has plastic bits in it

Some of the vintage Rolex reps are actually really good/close to the real thing. Only problem is that they look brand new not vintage (can be sorted by brave DIYers)...plus the fact that the genuine vintages cost £20K plus and are very vey rare so you'd be easily called out
Yeah. ETA is good. But you won't be able to get ANY Swiss ETA reps soon as the Swatch group that owns ETA is fed up of all it's movements being used in reps. After this year they are only going to sell/give the base ebauches/movments to Swatch group companies and are already severely restricting the amount they are selling to non Swatch companies.
Based on the number of movements they sold to genuine companies in 2007 they only delivered 85 % of the reference figure in 2008, will only deliver 50 % in 2009, and 25 % in 2010, and none thereafter.
This means that companies like Ball, Doxa and lots of others will cease to be able to make any watches and will in effect be finished
This is a shame for all the genuine makers of other brands that won't be able to use them anymore but means that the rep makers will not be able to get any. Rep makers have still been selling (and will continue to) Asian ETA copies as genuine Swiss ones though. Nearly all so called Swiss movements used now are actually Asian copies.

That seadweller looks pretty good, 
as above the date is wrong and the 5 minute markers are not thicker, but it looks like a ceramic bezal and its even got the rolex in the inner ring ( which is very hard to see ) and the glide lock clasp
