what i dont get it why spend a few hundred on a rep when for a couple more yoou could have a real omega or breitling, naturally sec hand but atas its real.
i really fancy a submariner but in my heart of hearts i think there overpriced for what they are.
either that or its the fact i cant afford one makes me think that lol
mind you my watch is only about £1100 in the shops hch s n0thing compared to rolex etc and i still get people commenting on it,
it actually surprises me how many people recognise a decent watch it makes the expencee worth while

You're right in a lot of cases....Genuine watch like your quartz Seamaster is £400-500 second hand, the Auto Chronometer one is only a hundred more yet a top end rep of it is £200-250. If i wanted one i'd spend the extra for sure.
Rolexes hold their price though...16610 Black subs are £2000 all day long second hand even if a bit scruffy. The best reps (not the ones on the sites listed on here, something a lot better) are £300-400 depending how many genuine parts are used so it's a significant saving.

Big trouble in little China
I'm hearing today that the markets in Guangdong/Guangzhou are under pressure with increased policing and there is not a rep to be found in the usual places right now. They've all gone to ground and shut up shop temporarily and a lot of dealers/resellers have been TOLD to leave in no uncertain terms.
Shipments out of Guangdong/Guangzhou are being intercepted at customs and one dealer has just had a $300K shipment taken off him hence the others shutting up shop for now and going to ground.

This fake watch = fake person stuff is krap.
I see many who have "acquired " money in one way or another ,go out and try to look "genuine" .A Real man can wear a fake watch and not care. But a Chav with a real Vacheron is and always will be a chav. Those that truly believe a expensive watch will make them have more 'class' etc need to wake up. Money cannot buy class or style .
And trying to judge someone for wearing a fake watch is mad. They just might have more sense than you think !
The Vietnamese Rolexes will make you think why Rolex can charge what they do. Most of the cost is "Life enhancement " or some other rubbish.
You want a good divers watch? Buy a marine master . A Rolex is no way as good build wise.

Well if you wanted to start selling them in the UK you would just need to go to Guangzhou, speak to the right people (easily arranged with a fixer) and get a drop shipping agreement. Set up website hosted abroad somewhere and with a long trail that doesn't end in you and wait for the £'s to roll in... Drop shipping means no stock held, no exposure to you,no start up costs. Easy as 123...
Or go to rep city, arrange for 100,000 watches in piece/component form to be shipped to the UK (v easy). Chinese will then arrange for illegal workers in the UK to assemble them here. Then they're yours to do what you want with.

The 3 biggest players in Europe are in Germany. Up to 11 workers in each "house" building the watches.
Yoza, its very very easy to make good money here in UK . Just get the right watches and the correct amount. Do not be greedy ! Keep it low profile . There is a huge market , but most feel "afraid" to buy from ebay or Gumtree etc. so get in with the right crowd. Funny thing was most people who bought off me could afford the real thing !! They just loved a bit of fun. The serious bad stuff was the Rolexes from Vietnam. These are now very very "iffy" My money was made with out what i call any "crime" but what happened afterwards with these watches involves some serious "naughty stuff". I have said it so many times ........ be very very very very Careful who you send your Rolexes to to be cleaned and serviced etc. I never did it full time but managed to earn (and spunk !!) £22k in 2001, from watches. I would make between 100-300% profit.

Luke have you ever sold a replica knowing the guy you sold it to was going the enhance/clone it and pass it on as real?
I bet you find it hard to say no.
Lots of scarey organised switching stories going around at the moment.
I know it goes on.
I believe the sooner they crack down on replica watch suppliers the better for everyone.
Anyone who wears a highend watch (unless a footballer or film star) is automatically thought to have a replica anyway.

I have to admit I sort of agree with Luke. I (like others here) could afford any of the watches on sale (with exception of diamond studded million £ jobs) and I do have a genuine Breitling.
Therefore, as I can afford the real thing but may 'choose' to buy a good fake, that just makes me even more cool as it just shows I don't have to try too hard
Also, though I'm not a footballer/filmstar, if you saw me wearing a high end watch (up to say £10k) you would presume its real, because I look so bloody high end myself

many many years ago I knew a guy called "Bobby" . He was a amazing con artist that could act a tramp or a multi lingual Multi millionaire . I believe many of the Omegas he bought off me where "swapped" for real ones in some 'high street " dealers. "bobby" would get it all set up. exact time on both watches ,little tag and price etc. I think he did about 6 "swaps" The other times he would get the "mark" to think he had conned "bobby" and buy the watch off him , thinking "Bobby "was down on his luck etc.The "Real" Rolexes i know ended up with a Well advertised "Watch repair" guy who would exchange parts on watches . Sometimes with the owner knowing etc. Many might need to sell a watch and need a few extra links etc .
But i have never ever sold a watch as genuine, Please ! i am not the type .

Ooopps.
And on the other side of the chain, apparently Sunday 15th is D-Day for the makers in China, the police are planning huge raids and confiscations/arrests tomorrow...
An Internet watch seller in Poynette has lost his brief federal court battle with Swiss watchmaker Rolex over his Web site, which sold cheap knockoff watches.
Vincent Konicek was ordered on Wednesday in U.S. District Court to pay $323,611 in damages and other expenses for copyright infringement and cybersquatting as part of a default judgment over his Web site, toprolexreplica.com.
In a statement issued Wednesday, Konicek said he "feels overwhelmed by the corporate and justice systems that can savagely and ruthlessly impose unrealistic penalties, especially in light of the fact that there are over 600,000 Web sites selling replica Rolex watches."
Federal court records indicate that Rolex has sued many of them over the years. The company sued Konicek in January to get him to stop selling his $99 Chinese-made knockoffs.
Rolex sought and received a default judgment after Konicek failed to file a timely response to the lawsuit. He responded on Monday and admitted selling the replica watches, but said they were not intended to deceive anyone.
Konicek said he lives on Social Security and a small pension totaling about $24,000 a year.
In his statement, Konicek said he had no comment about the judgment but wondered about the wisdom of the lawsuit over the eight watches he had managed to sell.
"Does Rolex really think that the person buying a replica watch would have bought a real Rolex?" he wrote. "Did Rolex really suffer any losses or damages from some poor schmuck selling knockoffs?"

About time too.
China doesnt just knock off watches, they remake everything from cars to diet coke.
This sort of thing has happened before, they just do a half hearted publicity stunt and run over a few thousand cheap replicas with a steamroller, then send the film out to all the news stations.
It will never stop, anyone who thinks it will is not a realist.
Nat, if you wanted to buy a new SeaDweller DeepSea and avoid the list, how much would you pay?
I need to by from this country, so I can see before I buy.
Cheers.

Sounds like you got it just in time..
ANOTHER Rolex price increase in May!
A Standard Sub will then be over £1000/ 30% more expensive than a year ago!
**** knows what the nicer models will be costing then
Can anyone else name anything they could have made 30% profit on in the last year?

Lol, i meant if you'd got one or a few for £28xx or whatever it was this time last year, it'll cost nearly £4000 to replace in May...increase of £1k on rrp in the last 9 months and year old sub'll sell for as near to list as to not make much difference...

Well if you got it refurbed/serviced (looked "well worn" in the pic ) it'd go for £7-8k without much bother... A lot more than if you'd waited and got the common Rolex engined one!
Lets watch this one and see
ROLEX SS DAYTONA 16520 ZENITH VERY RARE BOX AND PAPER on eBay, also, Wristwatches, Watches, Jewelry Watches (end time 22-Mar-09 01:26:04 GMT)

I've just sourced the parts to be able to build a 100% spot on 16520 rep with genuine Zenith El Primero movement (full fat 36,000 vph version, not the toned down 28,800vph one Rolex used) and genuine Rolex dial and hands.........quite tempted to have it built
