5 6 and 7 RS`s are very raw Jimmy, almost twitchy, they,re like an RA CLassic imo..

I hear you on the rawness of the older Evo's

its not just about power with the spec c's, its how the handling is set up, the car is lighter, quick rack steering (although I think jdm's have these too????)

The spec differences depend on model year, early on in the spec c's life it ran a longer wheel base than the normal JDM STI, but the wheelbase was increased on the normal JDM STI to match the spec c, not sure exactly when but the MY05 is the same setup track and wheelbase on both models, they do have the 13:1 quickrack too.

(for the MY05, you'll have to check others yourself) The Spec C is lighter, about 90Kg lighter, it was an option to have a none DCCD version of the STI, but the majority will be the same DCCD-A transmition system on both. The engines are the same except the Spec C uses the VF36 rollerbearing turbo, normal STI has a VF37 sleave bearing turbo, both are twin scroll. The roller bearing version should spool a little quicker but is a much more expensive item if it breaks, the spool on the VF37 is very good due to the twin scroll design. Both give the same headline power/torque figures. The engine and gearbox have extra oil coolers on the Spec C as it's more focussed towards a competition car than a normal family Saloon in terms of usage.

The full specs for the normal JDM STI and Spec C version can be seen at Impreza WRX & STi

I'm very happy with my JDM STI, the Spec C's do have a premium on price and are a better proposition for track use, but if you are a road oriented driver the normal JDM STI would be a great choice too.

Subaru : Type 25 Build No 37 Spec C with Spec C plate

Is this not too good to be true? i know prices are low but spec c and type 25?

Where these type 25's as awesome as the hawkeye type 25 reviewed on 5th gear - i know lower power etc but are they still regarded as beasts?

why is it that you can never find any hawkeye type 25's for sale?
