You wont fella. When its fixed and you take her out, warm her up and give her some boost... trust me your feelings change in an instant. Same when the gearbox went on my old red classic. Wated nothing to do with it, considered selling. But got the money together and had her fixed. The feeling when I got her back was paramount to when she was returned the previous year after an accident. I can still remember both journeys to collect, the sheer excitment and anticipation. You'll get that when shes all better.

I had a similar problem after my radiator was replaced, turned out there was a minute crack on the sh1tty plastic header tank which was slowly leaking water.

I went through two header tanks on my old classic as well, so if yours does ever need replacing I'd recommend an alloy jobbie

Connor does sound like the pipe is split or maybe the clip not tightened enough - can be a bit akward to get at.
Are you sure the rads defo new? If so its highly unlikely to be it. The main problem is if its a pinhole in either the pipe or rad it will only leak under pressure ie when reving.
Let the guys do their thing tomorrow and if possible I would hang around and keep an eye on them! I did mine myself........mainly cause I dont trust most garages!!LOL
Good luck and keep us informed mate.

You know what, I had the exact same thing on the top left rad hose on my old My99 Uk Turbo fella

Basically hose had 2 or 3 pin hole cracks in it and was creating steam when leaking due to engine temps. This in turn was coming up through the left side vent on the bonnet - looks worse than what it is.

Simply used some electricians tape and 2 cable ties until I had a mechanic mate fit a load of silicone under there

There you go Connor, rip all your rubber hoses off and replace with new silicone ones from Samco/Autobahn88 etc. Any possible hose leaks solved, your money pished away and a sexy engine bay.

I went through 3 radiators last year & had the exact same symptoms as you. the header tank shouldn't lose any water. Original rad rusted & leaked at the bottom, 1st replacement rad was a duffer, 2nd was ok till a spanner was put through it, 3rd is still in there

I thought it was a head gasket too, get the sniff test done to be sure.

Congrats on getting a turbo'd Impreza btw, I'm glad you decided to go that way instead of doing the conversion on your old sport.

Sounds like you have been using Stevie Wonder for work? If you put the car in with a coolant leak and the rad was replaced, then they should have filled the system correctly afterwords and checked the hoses too. Sounds like either the pipe has a hole and the water is running along it onto the rad, or the drian plug has been incorrectly fitted. In all seriousness, consider changing mechanic and start using someone with knowledge of Subaru engines/cars.

Going by your previous experiences you best check that its actually getting filled with coolant and not just water as well. Your constant 'topping up' I am assuming is just with water, so the more you 'top up' the weaker the concentrate will get and the more chance of freezing in rad/pipes/ block etc.

Radio Scotland news flash: A man was arrested earlier today after an incident at a motor repair centre. The man who cannot be named at this stage was apparently upset after work carried out to his car, believed to be a Subaru Impreza, was not up to standard. The garage proprietor is said to be in a stable condition after having surgery to remove an alloy radiator from his back bottom.

Do you reckon he's done it?

Nice one fella. Really chuffed your sorted. I would maybe use a different garage from now on mind. Take it easy for a couple days in the Scoob just incase something else crops up possibly
