Great point made,my family also branded me as a chav when i brought my first my95 wrx import,it took 12 hours to clean the interior after the last owner must of lived in it,my dad soon shut up when i took him for a spin in it
spare pants were needed!!!
Ive since then had some chav motors i admit, vaux astra mk3 gsi, corsa c20 xe,astra gte 16v-but subarus are in there own league and ive now returned to a more sensible uk wagon with a not so aggresive map,but modded tastfully-love the look of the classic, thats what got me hooked when i was 14 years of age,now 30 and living the dream!!

Fair comment mate, even tho classics have dropped in price it doesnt just mean that chavs can afford them. people that arent minted or have different priortys (kids houses business) can now afford them.
besides that more people that own them the more business i get!

Chav
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Chav, Chava or Charva is a derogatory term applied to certain young people in the United Kingdom. The stereotypical image of a chav is a white aggressive teen or young adult, of working class background, who wears branded sports and casual clothing, who often fights and engages in petty criminality, and is often assumed to be unemployed or in a low paid job. The term may originate from the Romani language. In its English form, the term is generally derogative, and has appeared in mainstream dictionaries in 2005.
But no mention of driving a Classic

i drive a Classic 95 wrx 2.0 turbo with lots of mods and BHP out of choice and just love my classic, and the sound,at times realy loud and the way people look at me,even girls puckering saying is the driver fit?? as most think has many do,oh not another boy racer!!! when im infact old enough to be a boy racers mum And i agree that Classics are cheaper to pick up then other scoobies, but most imports like mine are driven by older folk as the youngsters cant insure them where has the Chavs around my way drive corsa's clio's etc..

Drove my first classic away today...... I drove a Wrx 2 weeks ago and you cannot really compare them as they are both worlds apart in every aspect.
The Classic was more fun, even though the newage are easier to drive...... personally I think things are more fun when you have to give it a bit of foreplay.

I drive a classic as i got it as a p/x
Like i said in my other thread, i was fully intending to break my Impreza wagon, but after driving it for a week i cannot believe how much i love it! I just cant bring myself to break such a good car!
I wouldnt say they are a "chav" car at all. If a chav can afford the fuel bill alone they are doing well.
I must admit, as a non-scooby owner till last week, i always much prefered the classic Impreza's to the newer ones. The hawkeye is nice, but the classics are the best looking by a long shot

I've only ever been accused of being a chav by one person for owning an Impreza, the same person also said I was a chav for driving a 1969 Triumph 1300, yes, erm, quite.
I'm with just about all the other posters here, a car is only chavvy if the owner makes it that way, and even then, that's a perceived look of 'chaviness' by the individual, so what if someone fits angel eyes to a classic?
Just because the classic is available more cheaply doesn't mean it instantly becomes chav fodder, fuel bills, servicing and insurance will mostly put paid to that notion in many cases.
If anyone does think I'm a chav for driving a classic, I couldn't care less, I actually drive the car, so I know best

I sold a mint 205 for £4k about 18months back
Completly standard and in showroom condition.
As with all cars like this, the chavs kill most of them so when theres only a few left in top nick there worth a fortune

you are talking about 205s i once had a race with a 205 gti and it was a fast wee bugger a lot of people underestimate these cars like the renault 5 gt turbo and the nissan pulsar to name but a few sometimes you have to speak in the text lingo so people understand as i type this wearing my burberry cap and scarf lol .i had a few mk1 escorts one was a 2litre with roll cage billies buckets etc,now if you look at prices of a good two door now and were not talking about an rs here you are looking at paying 3-10k for a good restored one and check the price of a rs 500 cos now i know you might slate the max power crew but there is some nice tastefull cars out there its all down to what you like yourself . oh and do u remember the 205 dimma? now that was wide *** mother .

But yeah, my 205 is a fun car to drive and I try keep it in standard form (apart from replacement exhaust and big brake kit)
