It is unfair to criticise the weather forecasting service so heavily. Forecasting is by no means an exact science since the weather is subject to the vagaries of nature and conditions can change very quickly for no apparent reason. They do their best with the infomation that they get and with their weather modelling etc but it is not possible to be able to ever say exactly how a weather system or air mass will change or where it will eventually move to.

Indeed - how boring would it be if we could predict the weather perfectly
