I've just done some quick tests with Firefox and IE. IE is 1-3 seconds slower loading a page, particularly the longer threads. There seems to be a long pause at the start of the page load, where it looks like IE is just sat there going "Duhhhhhh". I'm running FF 3.07 and IE 8 Beta on Windows 7. I get similar results on Vista on my other PC which is running the same IE but FF is 3.1 Beta 3. Since clearing my cache on FF a couple of times, I've not had any real issues with SN, either missing buttons or speed. I try not to use IE if I can help it.

Ok, Wow, i am now viewing using Firefox 3.0.6 as it just updated Firefox now, and this site is now instantly loading.
Harvey, are you using IE8 like i was? IE8 takes forever, yet Firefox is loading almost instantly.
I have just been looking at other threads that i dont normally use just to test things and i must say, wow, LOL

This is crazy slow...taking 20seconds+ to load a page.
Decided tonight its not worth bothering looking around the website, came straight to this thread to voice my comment & won't be using the site again until its running properly again.
No offence intended but you asked for peoples opinions.

I've just upgraded IE8 from the Beta release to the production release, and it does seem to be quicker. Not as fast as FF but not bad. I did check some pages on SN beforehand to compare. It's a bit subjective, but it may help.

Just to add my experience.
On I.E. (newest one I think), it was really taking the pish. After going from about 8 secs to over 20 to load each and every page on S.net, I gave up and used Firefox.
Straight away theres a difference. As in Firefox takes 1-2 secs to load, max of 5 depending on the time of day. If Firefox accepted all my favourites and bookmarks I'd stay on it permanently, but it doesn't so currently using a mixure of both FF and IE.

Similar issue with Youtube. When I go to sign in on Firefox, it asks me to link my Googlemail and Youtube accounts. No problem, but it just refreshes barstard page. Thus can't sign into Youtube while on FF. Just stupid little things like that is why I keep going back to the (slower) IE.

Some, about 75%. I know as I was looking for a specific link saved in my favourites. Opened IE and found it straight away. Firefox didn't have it.
