Of course the irony is- and I'm sure this has been mentioned countless times on this thread already- the soldiers are fighting for the right to protest at the actions of one's government and leaders.....among other things.
Try speaking out against the Taliban and see how long before someone comes along to "reason" with you!
They should all be giving the soldiers a pat on the back and addressing their concerns to their MP.

Let me point out some "none anti war protests" that never happened because the country involed was a muslim nation.
Iran-Iraq war (70's-80's). The use of chemical agents on countless thousands of unarmed civillians, no "muslim peace protesters" appeared there.
Iraq (80's-90's) when good old Saddam also used chemical weapons on coutless of unarmed Kurdish people (100's of thousands killed) yet no "muslim protesters" in the uk.
The fact is, that because we have troops over there (and the taliban kill more innocent people with INTENT), they come out in force to complain.
Well they can either support our country or go and help by joining an aid agency out there, the simple fact of the matter is, that troops are under serious pressure in combat situations, especially when your enemy doesnt wear a uniform.
Now unless you can say you have the "*****" to do the same job as our service personel, dont slate them off or show them disrespect.

I've got 3-years left when I get back in October, I'll have done 20 years by then. I've done a fair bit of work over the last few months working on the draw down plan for Iraq. It is certainly going to be different in the future

I just wanna take this opportunity to say what a top job all you lads n lasses are doing/have done out there in Iraq/Afghanistan.
You guys work under the harshest of conditions for the sh!ttest of wages, yet do your job with such professionalism, courage and determination, and always always give your best.
I must admit I was one of those who was rather ignorant when it came to the war in Afghanistan or Iraq, until I watched 'Ross Kemp in Afghanistan' on Sky One. Maybe that's rather shallow of me but that programme has opened my eyes to the incredible work of the Armed Forces and although it is only a microcosm of what's really happening it has given me a valuable insight to the work carried out there by serving officers, which has lead to an overwhelming appreciation for all those serving our country.
Hand on heart, you guys are absolute fukcing HEROES!!!

That said, despite this recent event, the level of public support is generally good and it is always nice to hear views like yours. I'm sure all of the soldiers, sailors and airmen on here will appreciate the support

TBH I've never seen Ross Kemp for 2 reasons, I don't normally like that stuff, but mainly because my wife doesn't want to see that stuff with me going out there again. I understand that this is one of the best documentaries and even without seeing it I take my hats off to those guys out on the front-line. I'm an RAF comms engineer so my life is fairly comfortable by comparison sat back in Kandahar, with the odd trip out to some of the other locations.

Went to 55 Bty (RA) to recce the UAV set up in the good old ****** in early 2004. Only ever got into Bagdhad in the dark, but the flight line in Kabul is very similar.
The US kit, is that going across the border point at Safwan, it looks like it.
REMF, yep, tried to get into 18Sigs but I'm too senior for an RAF guy and would have to join the Royal Signals to do it
I've had a couple really interesting jobs though

The Muslim protestors can’t see (or don’t care) that that solders aren’t policy makers. And how there vicious name calling offends everyone.
refers to the people in your pic.
Anti war protesters can’t see how the name calling is hurtful to the solders. (No matter if it was a peaceful protest or not).
Refers to the likes of Luke and Loun Pra Bang.
Its proof that Luke is a non combat type, because he thinks the solders don't care, when realistically if he put him self in their place, it would really **** him off.
And your response is proof that you are unwilling to view a different prospective, this in not a bad thing or a criticism, if really you are solder, your success lies in having a one track mind, this undoubtedly will ensure your success on a battle field. If you were to spend even a millisecond contemplating how a Taliban solders mum would feel if you shot him, you’d be dead.
PAUL HABGOOD
“Are you saying that you cannot be both?
The fools and scumbags protesting at the soldiers return were anti-war, are you 100% convinced that they are nothing to do with or non supporters of the Taliban, if so how can you be? “
Surely if they were, this is a victory for us. It means that they have been civilised. They’ve gone from blowing up the underground, to swearing at solders.
And quite frankly if the choice is being told to **** of home or having a Combat-18 squadron stabbing my son, tell me to go home all you like.

And please try to give some realistic relevant context, you write about protesters on a thread about Muslim protesters and then mention Luke and Luan! It is not easy to follow, being non face to face/verbal communication.
BTW you say Luke is not a soldier, according to Luke he is - or was or claims he was
Re civilised protesters - one at least is reported to be asking UK Muslims to give their money to Jihad to fight the soldiers, hardly civilised and who is to say how or where that money will be used...Could so easily end up back in the UK sponsoring terrorism here
Re combat 18 who i believe an an illegal organisation - not likely, not ever, this is not Germany in the 30's and we are not as easily brainwashed as the Germans.
If you support those anti war sentiments then fine, in some ways so do I. However if you then go shouting and insulting our soldiers and threatening them then i have a big problem with you! as will many Brits. You seem smart enough to realise who is the real problem as are the gov't - protest to those in Downing Street who sent the soldiers there in the first place. Unless of course this is meant to cause problems and trouble between communities and ethnic groups which is really one of the only logical conclusions.

"Hello, mum? Yeah, not now, I'm protesting.....what's that? Subway for dinner again, oh FFS, I know it's Halal now but still.......every night it's the same....."

I spent most of yesterday collecting and delivering the family of a soldier killed on Sunday back to their home town. The nearer we got the more upset the wife became. Wife, three young children, all boys, 7,6 and 2. Now fatherless. Would the protesters be the same if their familes where being killed? It's not the first time **** like this as come my way or many other "support staff" and sadly I don't think it will be the last. Having spent over 24 years as a Regular, and done the dust and sand a few times, I find it hard to believe we had to have the Police escorting the soldiers. I wish the RSM could have halted the blokes, did a quick right turn and gave the scumbags the good news. That would have been news worthy.Sorry rant over.

i am not too sure what some of your comments relate to at the bottom of your response.

OK so I’m putting all racist actions in the same box.
And I think one big mix up comes from arguing two points at once.
My original point was that I found some of the racist comments offensive.
And simply by saying that they don't apply to me is not good enough, if you put them in the lowest comman denominator, they boil down to 'I don't like pakis, but your ok'.
And if there are Taliban supporters among the Muslim protesters, there defiantly are BNP supporters and even supporters of violent action towards the brown skinned bitts, among the opposite camp.
Any way I have to dash I don't want to leave a point unfinished or rushed, but quite frankly my mates are ringin' me and it’s beer o’clock,
So sorry if comments offend any one, they haven’t been thought out.

So Paul these protesters must have really pissed you off.
But quite frankly all they’ve done so far is call some solders some names. Any thing more than that is just hearsay. If there were any shred of proof that they were involved in any terrorist activities, there are laws to deal with that. It is our liberty, that we are considered innocent until proven guilty.
In fact the only people, that were charged off committing a crime were the two men who were chanting raciest slogans.
I’d like to think that intelligent British Muslims, don’t support the Taliban. Quite simply because Taliban philosophy, is a misinterpretation. That can only be taught to non Arab speaking Muslims.
Its no different to the way the Catholic church ruled over Cristdom (Europe) in the middle ages. And they weren’t defeated by an army, in fact there grip over Europe was quashed by a free thinking Monk, called Martin Luther. And do you know how Martin Luther defeated Rome, he translated the Bible in to German(a living language) from Latin(a language only spoken by the highly educated).
The Taliban’s power comes from being able to tell uneducated Muslims what Allah wants from them. This is unsustainable, History has taught us that.
Truthfully I probably am a fat armchair Socialist, (although I don’t believe in Socialism or Communism, because although all men are created equal, some are just more equal than others). But it is my right to be. As is my right to speak out against what I perceive to be injustices. |As cruel as it is, just because you go out and put your life on the line to defend these liberties, you are not above them.(I hope we can work out who this comment is aimed at).
My family used to own a petrol station in Newham, and one of the regulars was a Pakistani an who had 8 children, he was making a killing in child benefit and disability allowance, and income support. And it was quite disheartening that I had to work all the hours under the sun and this to$$er, got it all on a plate.
But on the other hand there are white kids today having babies, who are third generation unemployed,(and unemployable them selfs). They get pregnant and get given flats. Living proof that sponging doll mongers aren’t confined to people of one race.
Any way back to bed, I have to drag a trolley around Tesco behind her mighty highness I a few hours.

I bit the bullet and shopped last night - with Mothers Day loonming i got it all out of the way - it was hell on wheels!
"Hearsay" - you do seem intent on ignoring the facts and standing up for the protesters - your call
Hate cleric leads jihad cash appeal - Times Online
So called "Educated Muslims" - whilst i am not saying all educated Muslims are bombers it does put a big hole in your arguments doesn't it
Iraqi doctor guilty in UK bomb plot - Terrorism- msnbc.com

Not looking for a fight just pointing out that all you say is not exactly true, maybe more wishful thinking
As for having a big problem with the protesters - yes i do, with who they are protesting to and give a choice i side with our troops
You point out the two people where arrested for shouting insults at the scum protesters - only in the UK would they get arrtested and not the scum protesters shouting insults at our soldiers.

the doctors were not Taliban, they're attack was in revenge to issues in the middle east. (namely Palestine and Iraq).
Not all brown skinned people are the same. Each problem needs a tailor made solution.
I don't defend the protestors, I defend protesting. A right that people laid down their life for. The protest was greatly inappropriate, it not only hurt their cause, but stirred up racial hatered. I don’t know if that’s what they wanted to do. I don’t think it was I think more likely, they’re just a bunch of thickos, who paint the whole establishment with the same brush. Quite frankly any one who thinks that all white poeple that work for the goverment are the same must be really, really thick.

Yes mate, that was just inside the border on the way into the US camp there, loads of kit getting shipped back. we used to travel that route nearly every day when we were doing the convoy escort duties.
Was worth it though as the yank cookhouse was superb there.lol

Occasionally we'd stay in Camp Doha or Ali Al Salem and make a night of it
It was unbelievable what was in the US camps though.

The anger should have been directed at the government by protesting at no 10 or just around the corner @ parliament.
But no, they chose to do this at this 'sensitive' time and misdirected* at out troops.
*Likely this was to grab attention - but it was wrong and caused bad feelings yet agian!
