I am more of a Rapier man ! ( god that shows my age !)

Daz...give up trying to see if you can turn this into a "wall pissing" contest. nothing worse than 2 ex soldiers bitching.

paul: your quote about the leaflets been sent out is interesting when you see less than 30 people attended.
If i was reporting on this i would want to find out how many people received those leaflets and why so many failed to turn up. And tried to get some to comment on why they would not protest etc. That in itself shows that the typical Muslim in the Uk just wants to keep their heads down and live a normal life.

what i do not want to see is lots of 'bone heads" turn up next time to try and make a issue. You can bet most of them will have never served etc , but wish to show off.

Agreed, and it did take less than that to plan and execute the London bombings mind. I wonder how many impressionable youngsters saw the leaflets, written by a teacher and took any of it in. It is not just those who attended!

Mores the pity that this was allowed to go on and that these scum where not ostracised by British Muslims, maybe they where - for all i know

did you watch old soldier boy, kemps, return to afganistan? things have changed already, construction is happening as we type, things are getting better full stop, that can't be argued with.

Teacher Sayful Islam, self-styled leader of the Luton branch of al-Muhajiroun – the now-banned radical organisation led by Sheikh Omar Bakri – said: ‘The anger has been rising. The parade was the final insult. ‘They have killed, maimed and raped thousands of innocent people. They can’t come here and parade where there is such a Muslim community. What do they have to be proud of?’

One day the country will secure enough for people like you to visit these wonders. This is because of the invasion and the subsequent re-building that has taken place within a unified Iraq.

Dual nationality? Enlighten us. Glad you enjoyed the yoghurt quip by the way. I have served in Afghanistan and have walked amongst the population in Kabul itself. The feeling I get/got is that they are grateful to us for HELPING THEM get the taleban on the back foot. They, being the proud nation that they are(much like us) are now taking the lead where possible, and showing their prowess as warriors. I have nothing but the utmost respect for them. A true warrior race.

So there you go, that is what I have done for my country and mankind, all in one hit. Did my tiny tiny little bit to allow females to gain some equality in the country, and all Afghans can now be educated and trained to work and recreate the Afghanistan of the 50s/60s.

Respect to you for 10 years in the Marines, Daz. Ive worked with a couple and they work and play very hard. And not bigging up Luke, but I can honestly say that I have also worked with some RAF Regt who are model soldiers, some who have left the Army and brought some good field skills with them.

PS Daz, did you have many good nights out down at Union St in Plymouth when you were out at Bickleigh? Used to have some right ding dongs with the matelots and Marines when I were a lad. Didnt come out on top at all!(apart from with the soft matelots)

I'm for one glad these Muslims protested against the "Butchers of Basra".... it's helped remind people just how retarded and warped some Muslim extremists are!

Again if they hate life here so much, then......... "See ya!"

It is off topic, buut a nice break from all this warry stuff! I havent lived in Plymouth but come down every few months. Is Union St still so rough as it used to be? Part of its mystique, being duffed up at 2am on a Sunday morning!

I fond it difficult to take people protesting in Burkhas seriously, surely soldiers are the least of your worries when you wear a black veil on your head through which you can only see the eyes.

I know the RAFR lads are good soldiers I was just chipping away at Luke for spouting his nonsense.

As for Plymouth its a hell of a place. Many a good night there. I remember drinking in "the bank" and had some proper ding dongs myself, mainly in Blondes nightclub . No idea if they are still there.

One of our lads got a proper battering in there by a few of the doormen.
Our OC more or less ordered us to go back their to get some good old fashioned payback.

One of my favourite haunts was the Fortesque in Mutley Plain I'm still in contact with the landlord at the time who lives in the states now.

Got many happy memories from those days. Some fecking awful ones too. I've been out nearly as long as I was in and to this day I miss it.

It just gets right up my nose when people slag our forces men and women off especially as in Luke's case they claim to be ex forces themselves.

Agreed 100%, but it wont happen, ever.

When has any Muslim leader of any sort condemed the actions of the fundamentalist nutters after one of their outrages?
9/11, 7/7, Can anyone quote any Muslim leader saying anything like "We, as Muslims, do not tollerate this because this is not done in our name and it is not the way of the prophet"

Do we ever hear anything like that?

That comment really speaks volumes about multiculturalism and integration...
To a certain extent, yes, but only for this particular group of people. I have no problem with people protesting agaisnt whatever they like, so long as its done in a peaceful manner. But this particular person (and no way is he representative of the muslim community at large) needs to realise that those right that grant him the freedom to protest, also grant military parades and homecoming celebrations.

We need to remember that, like football hooligans, extremism on both sides of the divide, is thankfully limited to a few utter cretins and not the majority.

The majority of Muslims are decent people. The Majority of the British public support our troops 100% as they deserve.

As an aside, a Iraqi chap has not long started work for us. Basically he had to smuggle himself and his family out of the country, chatting to him about his life growing up and living in Iraq under Saddam is simply astonishing. Anyone that doubts that we are doing the right thing by being in Iraq or Afgahnistan needs to talk to people like him to realise just what a massive change our troops have made to peoples lives.

Yes we do. Google something like "muslim leader denounces terrorism" - There are tens of thousands of hits.

Our media, especially the papers, are far more likely to report about "mad mullah" clerics etc etc (Im looking at you Littlejohn you utter ****), than have a story that says "Muslim leader says terrorism is bad mm'kay" Where's the sensationalism, and hence sale, in that?

well there is the difference. I for one would have never allowed any men under my command to go back and act ******** like many do. Thats why i see a difference between us. You come over as a Bonehead who seems to think Fists are answers. Too much bravado, beer and shirts from topshop. Your mate must have done something to get a bashing? All your talk about " my guys in the reg would give you a bashing" sums up what is wrong with the forces. I can count on one hand the times i ever saw fists fly in my Regiment. As i mentioned before soldiers tend to be a right pain in the *** when they go out ! ( that also includes Officers) .

But i do not play this "brothers" game with people i served with etc. we did our jobs well, kept quiet and got on with life. The main difference is what we do after we leave the forces. For me i have earned the right to my opinion.

And unless you are telling porkies........ You need to ask around to know exactly what certain regiments have been up to in the last 25 years. To say they are not Soldiers has made you look a fool to anyone who is/has served.

You upset that maybe you might have had to salute me ? :-)

WRONG ..... VERY VERY WRONG.

Read better quality papers etc. Many have stood up and renounced terrorists activities etc. Do some research before posting .

Too many uneducated peoples thinking anyone remotely dark skinned and not black is a Muslim ! I know many Muslims that will go mental if they heard another Muslim start any hatred talk.
