Just thinking about taking the picnic / stove stuff down with us for a little bit of munch etc ............
It's a great track Tiny, you can virtually see all the track from where ever you stand, with the nutters from the European rallycross circuit we should see plenty of action on and off the track

If you park your car in the right place you can see virtually the whole circuit from the comfort of your drivers seat! (Having seen your car in the past though Tiny I don't know how comfortable it is to sit in all day!)

I think there may be a limitation on the spectating at the top of the hill; it looked like they were building a new fence there last time I was at the circuit.

After a 12 year absence from our shores, The European Rallycross Championship is back, and the opening round is at Lydden Hill in Kent. This is not to be missed by any motorsport enthusiast, as it involves the fastest, closest racing I know. 650bhp is the norm. Marcus Gronholm and Henning Solberg are rumoured to be competing amongst some others tbc.

And to top it all, I found out today that, the guest commentator will be........

Murray Walker.

I'll pick them up Matt.Would be good to fly the ESC flags at a European event.

Not sure if the marquee will fit in the boot though, rear strut brace could get in the way.

Look for the marshal with the big white hat and say hello if you get the chance.

Hope you all have a great day out - 70 entries listed on rallycross.com but sadly no scoobs.

Cheers, David & Chrissy

How big is the marquee ?
Will it fit inside the car as I will have room (but not in the boot though).
Happy to help if I can.

I'd say you've picked a good event for your first time then; the supercar entry list is looking pretty damn good!

I read on another site (Ten Tenths) that the rallycross Scoobs are no longer homologated, so they can't be used in ERC events. How rubbish is that? Scoobs should be back for the UK Rallycross though!

Shame about the Scoobs but looking at some of these cars this should be a cracking day out if the weather holds up

just give me a shout when you want them Brian. Yeah think the tent may be a bit big but may be worth it looking at the long range weather report.

Is the stuff at yours, or your dads Matt? Friday would probably be good for me.

To get an idea of some of the circuit changes, take a look at this clip from last weekend - on the tarmac, but you get a pretty good feel for almost all of the laps. Biggest change for me since the meet in January is that at the top of Hairy Hill the marshals seem to have been removed from the inside of the corner - now have 2 "proper" holes in the tyre wall, one at the entrance & one at the exit of the corner. Also seemed to have an orange presence at the pit lane exit. Presumably, this will mean that this will now become like Chessons - no marshals on the inside to help with any pull offs or other problems - might mean more red flags as the only way to assist is to roll the rescue wagons.

Hope the crowd control isn't just to let all those advertising boards get seen.

Chris Langley - Ford Escort RS 2000 T16 4x4
David Binks - Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 7

More than 30 cars, Eklund and O'Donovan in Saab's... if this is anything less than a blinding weekend of motorsport I'm going to very disappointed.

Thanks for the video link HairyDJ; I was wondering how far back the new crowd line (on the hill) would run, as they still seemed to be marking it out last time I was down there (Winter Rallycross).
