I will have you do mine "hopefully" before the summer if all pans out as planned.

I aim to add Harveys ported and wrapped uppipe and manifolds in the quest for nigh on 400 / 400....

And yes they are lovely - especially my euro spec BBS / Recaro spark silver baby

Much improved over my last Bug eyed wagon (modded to 285bhp) - which was badly received but very good.

And to be honest every "standard" classic looks like an old cortina in comparison.

Technology will always move forward and these new Sti's dont take too much to get serious power. A little bit roly-poly but some new sway bars and that should be addressed too.
not aware of his username, but don't think it mog.

it was a ppp car.. injectors, plugs, pump all fine.. it purely had an induction change

I think if exhaust changed it may get to 400.. this ended 385ish. (I haven't done enough to have an accurate database of road dyno settings so I used ppp figures minus a bit on the before and then used the same settings after.

Default my 08 sti

i love my sti ,its nearly a year old now and so far no problems
the car is great to drive ,but problems exist in the handling department ,as do ALL subarus .
the roll stiffness is too soft.
cronic understeer
soft damping -spring rates
compience bushes too soft ,NOW WHAT OTHER CARS suffer that problem heard of that problem before guys
all scoobies perhaps .i have just started to mod my car with Whiteline 22mm front bar and 22mm rear bar .so far the improvment is good running soft on the front and middle on the rear .going to try 24mm rear as well to see difference

i will be fitting loads more goodies in the near future
anti lift kit
roll centre adjust kit
springs
top mounts
bushes
under brace
summit braces for rear axle
9x 18 rota drift with 275/35/18
going to experement with geo set up also to try and get the optimum handling /tyre wear compromise
give the car a chance to grow on you ,its a good all rounder and my wife loves it

we have 6 subarus in the family all modified in different ways
and remember when a car manufacturer build a motor it a compromise between power /handling and overall cost
cheers geo

Hi Simon

What remap did you do on the 08 STI??

I am looking at getting one in the very near future and will be doing induction, full exhaust sytem and a remap to start with, what sort of power will i get from just that and will the new STI lump be able to get to 500 safely ?? I know a turbo change will most likely be needed along with fuel pump and injectors too .

Sorry to high jack the thread but i know modding the new sti is still new to most

Cheers matey

Simon/JGM...just to say a very big thankyou, I managed to go out after you left to drive some quiet roads free of traffic and the car was fantastic reeling in the corners however the corners are another matter and the AST's will now come sooner than later. Again big thankyou.

I attended last years dealer drive at millbrook proving ground http://http://www.talkingmotors.com/...tarts-now.html( this is a short vid of the 2007 event) and both Subaru and Mitsubishi (among others) were there with the new STI and the evo 10.We took the STI round the alpine test track and on the high speed bowl and at first they feel slow and and soft but when you get used to it they are are an absolute weapon. The power delivery is so smooth you dont realise how fast its going unless you look at the speedo , after we had had our play we went out with a professional driver round the rally circuit and on the bowl for a high speed run and with a proper driver behind the wheel it was devastatingly fast round the rally stage , according to our driver the EVO wouldn't touch it and on the bowl it went past 160 mph , but by the end of the day 2 of the STIs were smoking badly and had to be parked up and the other 2 were not sounding healthy either so it would seem they are a little fragile.

Personally i really like them, as an every day car they are much better to drive than all the others that have gone before but they are certainly not a pretty thing and need to be in the right color for them to look half decent.

the S modes influence the relationship between the incar pedal and the throittle butterfly via the ecu as it is drive by wire operated.

The actualy fuel and ignition and boost maps are remapped which all modes use.. you still have the S modes within that.. although economy and power / smoothness will be improved in all modes but the main noticable difference in S and S#

So back to the old new vs old, Evo vs Scooby debate eh..................not sure but think it might all have been said before "Ya pays ya money and takes ya choice" personally I did pay the money and chose the new STi............3rd Scooby and best yet
Simple anecdote to illustrate the point about looks - Stood outside a mate’s house the other day with my silver Scoob on his drive and two complete strangers walked past and said how much they liked the look of the car, even the local supermarket delivery driver said it was the “car of his dreams”.............

Simon, Why did you have to start them up again?

All Impreza's are ugly, and all STI's have pretty **** interiors for £30k cars. Nothing new there then. For £30k you get a quick car, or one with a nice interior. Not both.

As for the ever brought up issue of the facelift of the Bug. Presumably the change from Blob to Hawk is a figment of my fricking imagination then?! Or maybe people didn't like the jelly-mould front of the blob either?

Lets just all be grateful they were trying to stop it looking like an old Toyota Corolla like the "classics" do.

*rant over*

Know that feeling mate...AST's (or similar) looking like a must even after the full whiteline set-up & decent geo on my MY08 STI

Can you or someone please answer the following questions:

1. Compared to the MY08 UK STI does the 330S have an uprated fuel pump & injectors?
2. Does the 330S have any other engine parts that are different from a standard UK STI?
3. Did you get those figures with only a sports cat (turbo-back) exhaust, CAI & re-map?
4. Are those Ecutek numbers or dyno numbers?

I ask because from what I have read it seems the 330S is basically a UK STI 2.5 (mechanically) with the PPP fitted and a load of other extras (seats, suspension, push start/keyless go etc. etc.).

Cheers, Dave

I just think it was a mistake to make the move from the distinctive saloon to join the hatchback bandwagon.

Performance, handling and everything else is probably just as good if not better however its just a move in the wrong direction in my opinion...

Basically the 330s is a Euro Premuim STi with PPP, the engine is the same as a UK STI.

The figures were got with the Prodrive exhaust (whatever that consists of), a litchfield CAI and the Ecutek remap.

The figures were achieved via the software, a run was done in 3rd/4th which achieved 317 bhp and when finished another run in 3rd/4th which achieved 384 bhp.

A misconception amongst the press is that the 330s comes with different suspension, it doesn't but a spring/bush kit is coming or has been for the last 5 months!!!. I am going to go down the route of the T20 suspension setup soon.

Simon, they are lovely cars and I like very much the 3 Map Settings.
What did you map on it?
If you could come up with just 2 settings on an ECU, one economy and 1 Power, switchable, it would be a great seller.
I have a friend with one and he gets 38mpg in "Economy" on the motorway. I would get rid of my 06 Hawkeye STi for one tomorrow but my car is worth so little now. I rode with him and when you flip through the maps on the run the effect is amazing. Version 9 is definiely a dinosaur now that there is selectable maps on the new one. The experts tell me this cannot be achieved with Version 9 but cannot explain why.

I believe the pistons are not up to much just had ringland failure on mine so had to have a rebuild which only lasted seven days and the big ends went taking out all cams, heads and turbo. have had so many problems in the last few weeks i can see how the price was so competitive.corner cutting springs to mind.

Being a Previous Blobeye owner, I upgraded to the 2008 sti & tbh I really do like it regardless of the ammount of people who slate them, Granted they could have done something better with the rear lights but thats easy fixed with the red overlays & jdm fog light assy.

Mine was Remapped by Andy forrest one of the first few in the country to be done well deffo the first One for Andy to develop a base map for future car's.
intelligent mode has stayed the same with a small ammount of adjustment but still acts like an economy mode and pulls back 28-30 mpg. S mode is now what my S# was but altered to run ok with my mod's & S# is now a completly new map for full power at 380bhp & 403ft/lbs torque, We managed to max the injectors out on one of the runs so means the standard turbo has got a bit of life left yet and may break the 400bhp barrier if something was done on the fueling side of things Like if walbro made a bloody pump that fit in the antisurge cannister, god that was annoying trying to wedge a walbro 255lph pump in there then realising the canister would slot back together.

I Have to agree with JGM the car is brilliant much more refined than previous, I couldnt see myself owning an older scoob now that I have had this.
