If you want to know exactly how the Litchfield turbo is performing, phone Subaru4You. I wondered down there and they showed me the dynos. Been considering it as an option if it can beat the spool on my VF35

The vf36/37 both beat the spool up of the vf35 so if the new 400+ bhp one wnich is large does (no surpises there ) then its the way to go (well twin scroll is the way ahead )

VF36 on my built 2.5 hits 1bar at 2500rpm and 1.3bar at 2600rpm...yep, spools very nicely

Tentative fit date for my new 450-480bhp Litchfield twin scroll is Jan 26th

That would be wonderful, a 400hp+ turbo that spools faster than a 35 - my dream approaches! Not that I'm fussy or anything but provided all that can be achieved without equal length headers and remaining at 2.0L I'll be very happy...

Not sure.

They've got a double page spread in this months Total Impreza and I noticed it on that.

Can i ask how are you going to fit a twin scroll turbo to unequal length headers and fit a twin uppipe to feed the twin scroll ???

- That would really be the $64k question ...indeed! Can one have uneven length twin-scroll headers (assuming twin-scroll up-pipe obviously) and even if so, does it negate the benefit of twin-scroll and even if it didn't would the characteristic exhaust note still be lost anyway due to exhaust pulse convergence occuring at the turbo inlet rather than in the headers? Actually I think that was about 3 questions rolled into one so is it the $192k question? Not sure Jeopardy ever went that high.....

So far the results have been better than expected, compared to the other similar turbo core combinations we appear to have improved spool up and a slight improvement in top end power
Our 2.0 Type-20 turbo used the small Turbine housing for great response and produced just over 410bhp. The larger core version produced 440bhp with very good spool characteristics The same core but larger Turbine housing on our 2.5 Type-25 gave similar power but instantaneous throttle response. The mapping is relatively conservative with each car using just V-power
There are a huge range of combinations we can try and we’re slowly working through the different combinations.
I have ordered the first 50 turbos and these are in production so I hope we have units available soon.
I will put more detailed information on the website during the week.

Regards

Iain
Any power graphs available to see yet from Litchfields? Or has anyone on this forum had one mapped yet?

I haven't noticed anything new on Litchfields website.

Can we see some boost graphs? Also why does the 450bhp turbo make peak torque before the smaller turbo according to graphs, 2.5 v 2.0?

Looks good for a 2ltr on pump fuel.

Bluenose172,
Both of those runs are on a 2ltr engine unless the test mule car owner has had a 2.5 upgrade in between . Maybe one run had more heat in the turbo and pipework than the other run did, as they were done on different days.

I've just ordered an LM480-L70 with ported shroud and 800cc injectors. Will be fitted in January and mapped by JGM on January 27th

Mark none of those graphs are for a 2.5 and they are certainly not the largest turbo's available either.

There is the LM480 and LM500 for your desire my son!

Tim,
Good luck, but I suspect you will wish you had gone for the 500 instead!

... but engine was built for 500 so seems prudent to run it a little under rather than at the limit...and also trying to have some sympathy for the gearbox

Mind you, the porting on my heads plus tomei twinscroll headers etc may mean I get a little more than Iain's advertised 480...I'll let you know

Don't you worry about the gearbox! I have been giving mine death for years and it has been fine. Also the standard OE twinscroll headers are super human. Still on the original ones and they have never let me down.

Have some fun and thrash the **** off it on track!!!

Yep - I know the OEMs are great...but I got the Tomei's for a good price and it means I can sell my VF37 along with the headers and up-pipe, making it an easier upgrade for whoever buys it all

the graphs do need clarifying, as the 440 graph shows very impressive torque figures compared to the 410 graph

I'd still love to see the boost graphs. For reference in 4th gear I can see full 21-22 PSI on my VF36 by 3KRPM, in 5th and 6th it's even lower. If this is a true 450bhp bolt on and can spool fully by 3500rpm, I'll be getting one at some point next year.
