think the general concensus (the only exception was yourself) was on a classic front mount is the way to go lol

A month ago or thereabouts there was a long thread regards why FMIC cores were so big. If someone cares to dig that out there is a lot of factual information which will be useful for anyone wanting to uprate their intercooling.
Basically, the top mount cannot give the results of a good front mount and the cost of an STi 8 top mount with undertray and scoop is probably more than the cost of a Hybrid FMIC kit. Fitting the top mount to my STi 3 was a far bigger job than I anticipated and more work than fitting a front mount.
When I removed the top mount I immediately gained 9 bhp and noticed that air charge temperatures had been substantially reduced over what the STi 8 was capable of. After mapping and absolutely no changes other than the Hybrid GT front mount and remap I had gained just shy of 18 bhp.
A lot of people have been given bad advice regards the suitability and performance of the STi 8 top mount.
I don't remember people being advised to go the STi 8 TMIC route when the vendor in question was selling Hybrid front mounts.
