I bought PTMW! in response to a request from my wife who had just delivered Ez the week before & who then sat on the Holloway Road in 30+ degrees in a Corrado with no a/c

"I want a car with 5 doors and air conditioning"

Now, that was like an invitation from the devil and 2 weeks later, I had sold the Corrado & took delivery of a brand spanking new MY99 Wagon.

We took it out for a run up the M11 to a country pub. During the trip where I was obviously on cloud nine and grinning from ear to ear, I had the following comments...

"It's a bit racy isn't it?"
"What's that hump on the bonnet?"
"What's that whistling noise?"

She grew to like it though she wouldn't really admit it & there are some stories about her on this bbs. Only after I had sold it turned round and said "I wish you hadn't sold it"

The RA on the other hand is mine & although she is technically insured to drive it, hasn't She realised what a loss selling PTMW! had been so allowed me to buy another scoob - bless.

First car we bought for my wife was a red Integrale! Well we needed something practical with 5 doors for the baby seat etc. and I just couldn't think of anything in that category that I would actually want to drive. She has next-to-no interest in cars, so it was never going to work really was it? With the advent of baby #2, we needed a bigger boot so ended up changing it for a WR blue JDM Bugeye WRX. She put up with that (on the strict proviso that I repainted the gold wheels to silver-grey) and actually didn't mind driving it.

Anyway that's gone now and she's moved on to a weezing but pretty Grande Punto and I have the 22B, which she's never driven. My eldest (3 year old) son hates it when I drive fast and always yells at me to slow down. Bloody back-seat drivers.

My wife bought herself a my52 sti with her redundancy payout last year. She`s always wanted one blue with gold wheels of course. And if I spend sat. afternoon washing and polishing it she sometimes lets me drive it on the sunday. I do wear the trousers in our house ( if she let`s me ).
When I go for it the Missus smiles until we get the wrong side of 3 figures on the speedo and our 11 yr. old daughter just giggles.

Yeah the missus hates it if I go quick, although she complains less since I changed the crap standard airbag seats for buckets from an earlier variant.
It's annoying cos the engine note changes above erhum.....a certain speed..and it wakes her up on the m'way lol

i hate driving with my missus in the car, anything over speed limit is considered really dangerous and could get us killed. anti lag is something she think turns it into a 'rally' car, my defi gauges i said were cheap. why do i have to lie so much to keep her happy??!!

Yep - I've got the best of both worlds - I own the car & if he (Arkwright) wants to drive her he has to clean her first!!

As for the 11 year old - we'd only had her (the Scooby) a week or so & I was following Ark home from work - I said to the daughter that we would pull in in front of dad so he could see how good the Scooby looked on the road.

The 11 year old's response? 'Can't we just floor it!!'

God help us when she hits seventeen.......................

Other way around for me. My wife found my old UK turbo harder to drive than my Type RA. She says the 'box is easier, clutch is lighter and easier to drive. Personally I think shes talking rubarb. The gearing is much lower, the clutch is heavier and with the ALK it heavier to steer.

When she drives I dare her to keep her foot in because when I first got my UK car she would change just as the boost came in. Now I make her hold it to the red and she poops!

Mine is fond of mine- she even comes with me to get mods done, when it's being mapped etc....I think she secretly thinks I drive like a wuss though.

She may be right!

My kids regularly comment on how fast I drive (and it's not really that fast with them in the car) and then how slow mummy's car is

I have no issue with my misses driving my car, and she has driven all of my cars since we have been together (for about 14 years now, I get parole soon ), but she refuses to drive the scooby when I'm with her. She has a fear of what I would do if she broke it, despite the fact I hardly reacted when she rolled her car into the back of mine about 18 months ago (although she still hasn't paid for the bumper respray)

my girlfriend hates mine, apparently they are not family cars (even though she has an MX-5 !!), she doesn't like the stickers on it and she says it makes it look like a boy racer car, "luckily" for her I crashed it 2 months ago and it's been off the road since, I hoping to get the insurance sorted out soon and get it back on the road over easter

The Mrs told me to not buy a big Range Rover and go get something sporty that I'd be happy driving.... and now whenever I click into s# she's always telling me "do we have to go everywhere flat out" and "why do we have to overtake everything in front"

the answer..because we can.......

These women never make their minds up do they..

My misses had an a little argument with few of the older ladies at her work when she told them i was getting my scooby, as they realed of the stereotyped subaru image. She defended the scoob and said it was more of a family car than the 2.0l focus i was replacing as has huge boot and plenty of room in the back. Guess the hours of brain washing paid off, just got to convince her it feels slow now and needs decat and remap lol

I drive the scooby more than my chap does. If he is a good boy I let him take her for a ride to the petrol station and give her a drink of the finest plonk that Shell can offer. Then he can have his way with her on the weekend!
My kids fit in the back just fine and she is a dream to drive for the school run. Then on the weekend sometimes she gets her legs stretched, but mostly I tuck her up with her DiskLock on and say bye bye until monday.
It was the Westfeild that used make me crap my pants!

Wife hates the scooby - her only input when i was looking was it has to be 5 doors, when i told her it was a scooby she said as long as it wasnt the blue and gold combo.......

Also hates going fast in it, screams the faster it goes and not in a good way.

I also lie too about mods, when i get my gauges ill say i won them or something
