Great news I think for everybody. Prodrive have access to the latest parts and technology and it only shows how much they value the job done by other tuning companies by entering.

Anybody got any thoughts on what they might do to the car if anything? they say its running 650Nm of torque at 3K and 300BHP for the WRC, if they take the 34mm restrictor of presumably they could get a chunk more, if thats an honest BHP figure in the first place
I guess they can also chuck all the on stage kit out of the car too, and anything that the co-driver would use, and any ballast they might be using

Why would they? Only got to put it back in again. My guess is they would only do that if they were getting their a$$es badly whooped

They are running about 330hp now , torque is around 650-700nm , they dont have active diffs now , they are in top in about 300yds , any longer straights and the big power cars will eat them , the drivers will make a big difference ! who's driving for Prodrive , they havent called me yet

Ian,
I don't see any car being able to get over 140mph on the handling circuit, so power is irrelevant as regards to being eaten alive on the straights (in respect to a WRC car being mullered by more powerful cars)....... the straights won't be long enough. Chuck a WRC car in to a bend and I know what I would have my money on.
It will be interesting for sure and who knows what will come out on top. I have more torque than a WRC car, but that don't count for nothing with me behind the wheel!

The car is ace mate.... it's the idiot that goes between the peddles and the steering wheel that has the issues!
Once I get it back from Tracktive, I promise to pop over and take you out don't worry.

If the WRC car is too fast, we'll all have to knobble it somehow!!
As I understand it, they're running full WRC trim, including restrictor. The car would need a full remap to run without the restrictor.
In fairness though, I reckon it will be pretty quick as it is. 0-60 in about 2.5seconds.. 0-100 is something silly like 4 seconds. We're talking about half a million quid's worth of pinnacle level motorsport engineering, after millions and millions of pounds worth of development. I've seen these things leave the line at very close quarters a number of times, and it has to be seen in the flesh to be believed.
What I would guess though, is that they probably won't run the spare wheel, they won't have a co-driver onboard (which is effectively about 8% of the weight of the car!), they won't run a tool kit, etc, etc. That would be my guess. So it should go a tad faster than it would on a rally stage.
Found out about the driver today as well, which is awesome news.
They're sending their long standing prodrive test driver Terry Kaby (once rumoured to be the Stig!), so it ain't gonna be slow!
Can't wait!
