*yawn*
Lots of people are getting really cheesed off with the government and the establishment, no wonder they want to have protests! Good on them, at least they get off their backsides instead of just complaining on scoobynet about unwashed, scrounging blah blah etc etc
Protesting does change things, look to e.g. the poll tax riots.

The rest are just arseholes that want to cause as much disruption and damage as possible.

Protest will only make a difference if the people with the power to make the changes are not so arrogant and egotistical, that they will refuse to back down.
Sound likely ? lol
Peaceful protest, having your say, freedom of speech, no problem.
Scum smashing the place up, and hurting people...... lock them up and ignore them!
You would not allow your kids to have a tantrum and smash the TV.... so why is it right for adults to behave like that?
Sound likely ? lol

Why is it right for the government to completely ignore what the populace wants?
Peaceful protest doesn't work in this country anymore, because the politicians do not listen to them. When do you say F*CK THIS AND LISTEN TO US?!

My point is, not that they SHOULD or are RIGHT to ignore the public opinion, but more the point that THEY DO ignore the populace.
If reason does not work, violent and anger is not going to achieve a thing. Lets be realistic now eh.

If you are talking about the police using force against people throwing bottles at them, hitting them with bars and punching them, then yes I guess that must be what you are seeing through your Eco Blinkers.

No you are not supposed to roll over and take it, but is violence and property damage the answer?
Wife wont come shopping, smack the bitch up eh
![Confused](images/smilies/confused.gif)
Violence solves nothing, and if you believe it does, I worry for you.
Vote the idiots out, thats a good start. A long time to wait, but while they ignore your voice, there is little you can do.
Costing companies money at a time like this is not helping anyone, let alone smashing up the tax payers bank.
Breaking windows will cause MORE harm to the enviroment. And so on.
Flawed.

Snazy, it's a George Orwell quote I believe, used in the film '1984' If memory serves
It pertains to the erosion of civil rights (including the right to protest) by oppressive governments.
Genuine protest is one thing, and is necessary to safeguard democracy, yobs masquerading as protesters and vainly using a good cause to justify violent and criminal conduct is quite another.

lol that would explain why I have never heard it. I was only joking about just making it up, it was bound to have come from somewhere.

I agree with the point about protest though

Nope, the phrase means nothing to me, did you just make it up?

Violence brought through the poll tax changes.
I'm not saying that violence is always the answer, but when you have a state where the State doesn't take any notice of the people, you have to do something. To paraphrase the great Gordon Brown "Doing nothing is not an answer".
The government is supposed to serve the people, but increasingly it's the other way around with this shower of **** in power.
Btw, your analogy with the wife and shopping is flawed, because in reality it would be me getting beats for not going shopping

Its reports like this that ruin the message of the genuine protester
Graffiti scrawled over horse statue by man dressed as Admiral.
More riot police arrive along Cornhill. They are abused as they walk by.
Office equipment thrown out of windows at RBS branch after protesters break into the bulding.
Violence mounts at Bartholomew Lane as protesters continue to smash windows at the RBS branch there.

Julius Caesar would not have stood for this crap. The first 50 should have been shot, the rest would have gone home with their tails between their legs back to their camp site.
