lol @ the local glazing company. They might get the contract for emergency boarding, but just think how much its gonna cost to replace those windows. And for all the climate nerds, im pretty sure there will be TONNES of CO2 released making replacements... Well done.

The more I watch the more i realise its a media circus, Every weekend the MET deal with 60k people spilling out of football stadiums. This is 4000 un educated smelly hippies. Its not a big deal, Its not mass disorder. Its just basically people that want there way and want it over night.
If "the people" wanted this then more than 4000 people would have turned out.
If they want change then have a wash, start a political party and prove to the country they are right.
If they want me to abuse every hippy clad old ambulance with hemp curtains thats parked up in a filed pointing towards Glastonbury then carry on. I cant take them seriously, and I cant see how there argument that there way would be better can hold water when they cant even see the irony invested in the decision to smash up RBS.

Just been watching the Sky coverage, admittedly the main *protests* have been done for the day, but it just seems to be a bunch of oiks milling about. Can't see any banners and they don't seem to have a clue what they're protesting about. Seem to be more cameramen than anything else.

Just seen the footage of the cop getting hit in the head with the pole. The guy that did it, what a spineless little arsehole.
Running away into the crowd, ski mask on, hooded. What a brave little man he is. Someone to look up to!
Still kicking off now apparently, a good days work done guys.
The whole point made by the peaceful protesters ruined by a soap dodging arsehole that wanted to pick a fight with the police for no apparent reason.

IMO, if any of the work shy soap dodgers have a credit card, they should f**k off, if any of them have a mortgage, they should f**k off, in fact if any of them have a bank account, claim benefits, own goods made by so called capitalistic globalised companies like Nike, Sony, Apple etc, drive a car, holiday abroad, enjoy any facet of our society, they should all f**k off! This will probably leave students who probably studying for a qualification that allows career path to make lots of money, lawyers, accountants, business analysts, finance etc, should, yes you guessed it, f**k off.
The only people not protesting are the hard working tax payers trying to keep their jobs and, ironically, religious fanatics.

That'll be because any reporter photographing police brutality will be arrested under section 76 of the 2008 act
There wasn't the civil contingency act back then though. Nor was there the right for instant death penalty for rioting introduced in the EU Charter of fundamental rights
Your country has been hi-jacked and whilst the public were too busy watching Big Brother on TV (the irony ), the government has introduced a real version.

And there you have, in two posts, the reasons why everyone should be out there demonstrating and protesting against the government!
Your country has been hi-jacked and whilst the public were too busy watching Big Brother on TV (the irony ), the government has introduced a real version.

Many of the protesters hide under the global warming protesters umberella. And yet you drive a high polluting Impreza.....Maybe you could protest about the capitalism bit but add to your banner that its okay to drive a gas guzzler...... I'm intrigued as to what your point is and where you stand exactly.

Henrik, Hello. Do you support anarchy? At what point do you suggest law and order should be restored? When the riots spread to where you live? If they do, who are you going to call ? Do you support violence to demonstrate your feelings? Who do you support politically?

I think it's perfectly understandable that people get so fed up with this government that they get pushed over the edge, especially when you get riot police provoking the protesters by boxing them in, dividing them up, doing the hard talk of "we're ready and up for a fight" for weeks in advance. All this boxing in and provoking by the police started way before any trouble started, when people were going along their lawful business of demonstrating
There were loads of different groups at the demonstrations, not just "global warming protesters" - people demonstrating against the bank bail outs, against financial instruments such as derivatives etc etc. If you read any eye witness accounts and don't rely purely on the BBC, you'll realise that there were a mixture of people there, not just teenage anarchists.
Don't get me wrong, I personally would have to be pushed very hard to get violent, but I would definitely have wanted to be at the protests - NOT TO BREAK THINGS OR FIGHT - but sadly I couldn't make it. Part of living in a democracy is your right to protest, and if you feel that something is being done incorrectly, or that the politicians are not listening, you should voice your concerns. I think it's bloody great that people get off their backsides and actually go out and protest.
Personally, if I had been there, I would have gone to protest against greater police powers - this would have been my right as a citizen of the EU.
Loads of people on here are always going on about how the English haven't got any ***** anymore, how everyone else protests but the English just take it on the chin etc etc, and now that someone actually had the ***** and motivation to get off their backsides you're here moaning again.

Henrik, I totally agree there IS a point in protest, and they have the right to do so, so have no problems with it.
God only knows how many protests London sees each year.
What I DONT think is right is the violence that errupts, and is even threatened before the protests begin. Stating that they are willing to damage property to make their point only raises the game.
The police are humans, instructed to protect certain areas, move crowds into different areas. We are never going to see eye to eye on this one I know. But I think the crowds have a lot of blame to accept for their own actions.

SN really makes me laugh sometimes, especially when you see all the drivel that's been posted in this thread that legitimate protesters deserve a good kicking from the police, and all the 'if i was in charge id shoot them all' B/S. I didn't realise there were so many Labour supporters here

If they want to protest they are perfectly entitled to do so since we all uphold the right to free speech. If the protest is such that they could undermine law and order, or are guilty of treasonable behaviour, then they can't complain if they are controlled by the police. It is all wrong if they start destroying property as well.

MJW, I dont for one second think "genuine" protesters deserve a kicking. But then again genuine protesters would not cause damage and charge the police. The climate camp protest was pretty trouble free. So maybe the other fake protesters aka the unwashed could take a leaf from their book.
Smashing windows, grafitti and hitting coppers with poles is not "protest"
Arriving for a protest with a mask on is also showing some reason to be suspected of causing alarm later.

There have been two VERY large protests in downtown Toronto in the last few months (Sri Lankains protesting about the government killing suspected tamil tigers when they aren't tamil tigers). These protests have taken place during the afternoon rush hour and have caused major disruption to those trying to get home after a hard day at work. The police have been present and there have been no incidents at all. I'd say this is a definition of a peaceful protest.
If you are truly protesting then you'll want to do so in a peaceful manner, most types I'd say don't condone violence. It's obvious the majority of the problems are coming from very sad people who are there just to fight the police and do not care about the real reason for the protest. Scum like this should simply be removed from the gene pool for the good of others.
