Oh, it used to be great working at Pizza Piazza, free food, I certainly used to fill my boots

Matteeboy, damn you, you've made me sooooo hungry with all your recipe type stuff that I think I might just have to pop into Pizza Express shortly

It's truly bizarre place really. Sort of a mega posh council estate! I don't like it there - odd atmosphere and some truly horrendous houses (mock Greek Parthenon anyone?!). My uncle has a place backing onto the golf course that is actually quite nice - proper Georgian construction - but still not a fan. Had many comedy moments in the tennis club too. Yes there's loads of money. No it does not buy loads of fun.

New extra thin bases in Pizza Express are great!

Cris- I agree up to a point - the thin base is the best, Pizza Pan is good, but my local is the one in Congleton (and the Al Diavola is excellent ).

I like the Goodfellas Frozen La Bottega range. Love the base cos its light and thick without being stodgy.

Did the "all you can eat buffet lunch" at Pizza Hut and was staggered by the amount of calories I'd consumed in less than 20 mins

Have gone off bought Pizza's, generally crap and the stories I have heard about a major High Street Franchise put me off further, correct me if I am wrong but two blokes p1ssing into the dough is not a traditional part of the recipe.

Make it at home, we have a breadmaker to make the dough and put whatever you want on it, far nicer, less greasy and best of all no bored "Chefs" have peed in it !

My kids always want Dominioes and turn their nose up at home made, Dominoes for 5 of us is about £40, can make it at home for about 5 quid.

The cost to make a pizza for dominoes and pizza hut etc is an absolute maximum of £1.00 more usually .80 p which is why their pizza's are so bad. Too make a decent medium sized pizza the ingrediants cost around 1.70. A Pizza will typically cost £8- 10 which is really a market defined price reather than a specific GP. After VAT that would leave £6.25 profit on the dish for a decent pizza compared to over seven pounds for a crap one. This means the decent pizza place has to charge 15- 20 percent more per pizza or sell significanlty more pizzas than a crap pizza place to s stay in business.
THe nature of the British public means this will not happen.
The other issue is the nature of the catering trade itself. When selling items that have such a small amount of profit volume is the key. Only large chains who sell **** can afford rents and sites that offer enough traffic to guranatee volume, not to mention marketing power. In the catering tarde larger organisations rarely deliver quality but they have a skill for delivering just enough to keep people going back. An independant will rarely have enough footfall to guranatee volume how ever good their pizzas are.

Pizza... your homo right? The only good thing that comes out of pizza shops are kebabs... donner, chilli sauce and if you are lucky a good dose of the squits from the 3 day old "meat" they just served you.

This reminds me I am over-due for my diversity course...

(wispers - Tuna pizza rocks!)

Homo.
