just spoke with a guy from subaru garage who said that he believed the earlier WRX engine had different Cam pulleys and sensors to my year car, which is why it wouldnt start.
I will have to change it all over.

it is. Cheers buddy.

Just spoke with anothe scooby garage and they said that it was rubbish. The cam pulleys are designed for that engine.

Just tryied again and it sounds worse than it did before. Lots more clicking.

Maybe the starter motor has gone. Cant understand why though. Its only been in my boot.

Try bump starting the car in 2nd gear or something? That can usully tell you if the starter has gone, and was what the garage who recovered my Pug did last year to diagnose the issue

i couldnt seem to pull the plug out for whatever reason, so stuck my old plug on the coil pack and there wasnt a spark. Engine is turning over fast. Like normal.

I personally didnt hear the engine running, by the guy i bought it from is trustworthy and he said it was running fine.

I got one of those GT alarm fobs on the keys, which seems to be the same for the past 3 scoobs i have had.

ok first things first have a look make sure ur fuzes are ok all ov them have a look under your bonnet on my fuze box passenger side under bonnet theres a green fuze theres 2 of them make sure there ok.hopefully it will be 1 of them simple fix if not check there is a live feed and you are getting power to your coil/coil pack .i have never done an engine change or clutch for that matter on a scooby but i do know some flywheels are coded or matched to some cars or try a crank shaft sensor or have you tried disconecting the battery and leaving it sitting for half an hour or so and reconnecting it as sometimes this resets the ecu.on some cars

well i tried to see a spark on the car without earthing it, so checked again and there is sparks.

I triple checked the fuel lines and they are ok, took the top one off and turned key and it pumped fuel ok.

I could try resetting ECU i suppose.

I had a similar problem to this and mine was down to the gearbox connectors not being connected to the loom.

If the ECU doesn't detect the neutral switch and reversing lights sensors, it wont start.

Just make sure the loom connectors on the turbo side are all connected.
