What she did was despicable, in no way defensible and she should be punished for it. Hopefully they will have caught her in time, at 12 before she gets worse and moves on to other crimes. Without wanting to sound like Martin2005, some of the comments here amaze me, you would have walked up and kicked the sh1te out of a 12 year old girl? I doubt it somehow.

As much as Im shocked about what this little girl did, but within 30 secs of watching that video, I felt the urge to run down and stop her. Therefore how come the person recording it, didnt do the same. ?
Also, why is there someone on the downs / fields / recording girls walking around ?
What was the outcome with this girl ? did the police go round and tell her off ?
SBK

Sick and needs punishing properly.
However, with regards to intervening, you could bet your life this sick little **** would then make all sorts of accusations, rape/assault/etc etc. It's a sad fact that would prevent me from doing anything other than phoning the Police.

Sickening, couldnt imagine someone doing that to my pooch if Id let them take him for a walk, hes soft enough to not fight back too. Cant believe the punishment she'll be facing is being grounded.... Christ, I got grounded for coming home 10 minutes late when I was a kid. If Id been caught doing this Id have a bruised backside at the very least with the buckle end of a belt and wouldnt be doing owt like that again!!!!

I think punishing violence with violence is not the answer here, seems to be something that wouldn't shock her in the slightest.
Maybe bread and water for a month might have a bigger impact on her, and her waistline.

Agree Dave, those who think a short sharp smack has no effect aren't obviously talking from experience. I was smacked as a kid (no not beaten), a short sharp smack on the backside or on the back of the legs when I did something particularly naughty and it worked, I didn't do it again. And like Dave it had no adverse affect on me and taught me right from wrong and that is what is missing in society now. No discipline means no respect for anything.

How disgusting, cannot watch the video, read the column.
Re the girl, there is a serious problem there and she needs professional help, not beating to death. She may have problems serious enough for her to be sectioned and locked away.
The parents are bound to say that she was a good girl and never showed any signs, maybe she didn't...
I would look long and hard at the parents and what is behind the girls behavioural problems.
I think what she did was disgusting and vile, i think she needs is professional help and maybe locking up away form other people and animals. The spotlight needs to be turned on her home and social life IMHO.

From the punishment quoted from her Father, discipline clearly hasn't been part of her life. Introducing it now would be of no benefit.
BTW I was smacked and have/will smack my kids if it's called for. I'm not anti at all as long as it is done without malice and for the benefit of the child.

I can see your point and yes if it has been lacking for 12 years it will do bu66er all now. My point was really a more general point due to all the anti smacking campaigns over the years that for me has resulted in kids no longer being smacked. In the 70's and 80's when I was a kid and being smacked no one battered an eyelid if a child got a smacked bum off its mum in a supermarket. It seems since the 90's this has gradually changed to now being labelled a child abuser if you smack your kid in public and over that time just how much has this country gone down the pan with teenagers and youngsters behaving in a way that never used to be the norm 20+ years ago? For me it is too much of a coincidence for there not to be a link. I know that being smacked I learnt to behave and respect my parents and do as they said and I certainly wasn't out doing what you see many of these kids of that age doing now.

I totally agree and have been saying the same for years.
I will expand on it slightly, when I was a youth out and about and sometimes causing troubleIf a guy came out of his house and told us to bugger off we ran. knowing that if we stayed we would most likely get a slap. The kids of today would front him out now, knowing that if he laid a finger on them he would be in court quicker than you could throw a brick through his window.
Most kids these days have no fear of consequences, as they know the law is on their side.

I smacked (not hard but hard enough to make her think) my daughters hand. I also told her off and why at the same time and warned her it would happen again if she continued. This was done in a clam controlled manner without swearing or voices raised.
She had repeatedly kept messing about and deliberately doing things i had asked her not to. It was causing hastle for other people as well.
We where shopping in Tesco - i got a couple of nasty looks of of people close by. I just passively returned the look.
I also 'confiscated' the magazine she so desperately wanted and held it back until the next day - one of the other threats she ignored at thee time but felt the consequences of her actions later on.
She then behaved!

I think smacking is fine too if appropriately used to not overdone.
Kids need to learn respect for adults again and quickly.
Fannying around panicking about a tiny number of child abusers means the entire nations youth are a bunch of louts.

Makes you wonder though. We are not allowed to punish our kids the way we were punished and look whats happened to our youth society
Most of us here admit that when we were punished as kids, the proper way, we were more likely not to repeat what we had done or thought seriously about it as we knew what the punishment would be
My dad had hands like shovels

As far as I know in England it's not illegal to smack kids yet.

If the dog had bitten her back, IT would have been put down.
Made me very angry watching that. 12 years old or not, I'd have hoofed her right up the ******* @rse if I'd come across that.
