Your not because everybody thinks like you do! And eventually you will bring the car industry to it's knees.

I know how you feel mate.

My car developed a problem with the engine and the garage suspected big ends, so rather than pay someone to strip the engine and find out what was wrong, i decided to buy a second hand engine to replace it.

So i opted for a V1 WRX engine. I spent almost 1k buying the engine and fitting it,. But for some unknown reason i couldnt make it work. Be it the wiring or something i did wrong, i dont know. I know full well the engine works fine.

Circumstances changed so i decided to break the car and thought i would sell the engine

https://www.scoobynet.com/private-sa...rx-engine.html

Not quite the same as you, but check Post 2.

This guy had no intention of buying the engine, but obviously i did something to annoy him that they would try and ruin my chances of selling the engine.. Whats the fo*king point in that.

Why would i sell a duff engine you moron ? ? Obviously the person who bought it would have to pick the engine up, so would know where i live...Hmmmm how hard would it be to track me down if it didnt work...Not very....Plonker.

So i can totally understand where you are coming from mate.

Cheers for all the positive comment guys. Its appreciated.

I dont know if this will sound silly but, to me, it seems the prices in England are a lot cheaper than Scotland (where I am) You very rarely see an import STi. Even remapped Impreza's are few and far between up here.
I've travelled to England to buy the last 5 cars I've owned (Subaru's and an Evo) because they were cheaper.
You just cant get an import STi up here

I know what you mean.

As I said in my posts earlier, a lot of folk on this site seem to enjoy hammering you down on the price you advertise your car for.

I think I'll buy an Auto Trader tomorrow and phone every private ad and tell them that theyve priced there car too high.

dont see a problem here
you paid out cash for a car
got it to a trader saleable condition
decided to sell up
posted a price you thought may be good
got a buyer interested
sale went through
i assume buyer is happy with the car
all's well that ends well

2g for a Type RA????

Theyre are certain prices cars just dont dip below. They get to a figure and thats it.
I thought about an RA and a diesel Mondeo when I was selling my WRX and was budgeting for 3500 for an RA and 1-1500 for a Mondeo.
In my eyes, an RA below 3g just isnt worth buying.

Then again, I'm a ripping off blabbing ****.

I think some people are really out of touch with what the older Subaru's are worth or there looking at shed's on ebay that have been robbed 3 times, smashed into a wall and welded back together .........its that old saying you get what you pay for ........if it looks to cheap id be wondering whats wrong with it tbh.

Mate, he's just pissed because you made money from it when it could have easily gone into his pocket if he'd bothered to do a little extra work. A case of sour grapes I think.
I wouldn't say you've done anthing wrong at all. Like you say if someone's willing to pay the money then it's up to them to make sure it's worth what their paying.

As for Scooby23, I know its a bit late and he might not be online but I'd quite like an apology for ruining my ad and posting something that had **** all to do with him.
Whether I get it on not remains to be seen.

And Voodoorider, I'm begining to think thats a made up username from Scooby23 with his number of posts an' all!!
Cheers again for all the feedback.

I'm just putting this down to one loser being pi$$ed at missing a trick and trying to stuff up a sale.
As for his comments about me trying to rip off other Scoobynetters, I think we all know these cars well enough to tell a dog from a good' un.

Strange how both Voodooriders posts were around 10-15mins after Scooby23's
Just enough time to casually log out and log in.

End of the day mate you bought a car, spent cash getting it to a nice condition n made a nice tidy profit. Lets face it if we all could we would! Sounds like a certain member is a bit jealous to me!

To be fair fella, I believe I was one of those people you are talking about and I stick by what I said on the value of your RA, and was trying to be constructive.

I know spot on what older Subarus are worth.

Your thread wasn't an advert so I was fair to comment, different entirely from the subject matter of this thread, which I have total sympathy with weeebell on.

cant see the problem.you bought a car, fixed it, mot'd it and sold it for a profit. well done fella. thats buisness. you dont see car dealers running their company and selling the cars for what they paid for them. if the buyer was happy to pay that then there is no problem.

Since Scooby23 and Voodoorider havent came forward to defend their comments towards me and that Scooby23's above post seems to be 100% the opposite to what fellow Scoobynetters think, I can only assume they've run off with there tails between there legs (or tail between his legs) to sit and cry like a little girl in the fast lane of the M6........in the fog......at night.

Good on you for making some money but keep quiet what you pay for your next car
I have found it the opposite and travelled up to Scotland to find good priced cars my slightly modded STI V3 came from St Andrews and was a bargain think I paid £3250 Feb. 08 and sold it for €7k (In France) in November. The Bug STI I have now came from nr Glasgow again a good price and nicely modded in amazing condition I think I can double my money on this one (Selling again in France) when I decide to sell it on

Scooby 23 and his bum chum are jealous, that's all it is.

You made profit from something by buying and selling on at a price that someone was obviously prepared to pay. Good stuff!

I think there's a lot of people on here who think it's good to buy cheap! When I bought my 03 plate sti their where a few cars I looked at going for 8500. At the time you'd be looking at 9500+ for a good car that had been well looked after. On looking deeper into the cars that where selling for a grand less you'd find that they where a category C write off, had been run into the ground and neglected or still had finance outstanding on it.
I think there's to many people seeing car's sell cheap, often below book value because of the reason's i've stated and then thinking that this is how much they should cost period.
As for moaning because you've sold a car at a profit! Get a grip! Who wouldn't? Like I said earlier he's just gutted because he lost out!
Unfortunately I think your always going to get people slating your car off when you come to sell it. Most of the time it'll be from people who have no intention of buying. Maybe they really want the car but can't afford it! That is unless it really is overpriced, lol. Something else I don't think people take into account is the work that's been done modding a car as well.

like ebay? ...it's worse than ebay!

sense of community & doing a fellow enthusiast a favour on here has long gone, hence why we now get all the 'i've been ripped off by...' threads

So no Shaun, you wont be flamed by me
