'Doing a fellow enthusiast a favour'? That would be giving them friendly advice, not giving them thousands of pounds off the value of a car you're trying to sell.

Why should you pass up the chance to make some quick cash just to please some people on a forum?

I wonder if a 'sense of community' discount will work at the dealers ?

I need some parts and I bet they paid less for them than me

Off??? this is £1800 stuck on top, with what appears to be little effort? ... & Is this the same Scoobynet that bemoans dealers with their micky take trade in offers & then lo & behold it appears on the forecourt + £2K? ...At least they have overheads

nope, sorry ...I couldn't do it, I'd charge for my time & effort (£1800 would be a LOT of my time ) but anymore than that would be taking the pi$$ in my book

But carry on & if you're willing to add 30% to s/h items ...buy mine

No one would buy a car if they considered it overpriced though.

I don't see what your arguement is here. So if I had a car advertised which in my opinion was worth £7800, and you felt it was worth £6000, I should sell you it for £6000 instead of waiting for someone else to buy it for the full asking price?

I'd say good on you for making a profit. I've bought and sold many cars, some I've lost on some I've made on.

On the issue about cars for sale on here though and people commenting on them, many cars are well overpriced on here and literally are for sale several months or more. Try telling the person selling that they've well overpricing their pride and joy and all you get is abuse.

I know a couple of people who buy cars cheap, sell them on for considerably more, some of the cars are complete sheds and they know it, there is just something about buying and selling cars regularly which i don't like especially when there is always a profit involved. I'm not jealous at all, I'd sell any car i sold for fair price and feel bad if i made a lot of money on it and hadn't really improved it since i had got it! To me a fair price is better than stinging a buyer all the time, even if he is happy to pay, that's probably down to the fact he hasn't spent time looking into it! It keeps both parties happy and going away with a squared up deal!

I'm obviously a minority on this, which is fair enough, i thought about it harder after i read all the posts, but decided I'll stick to my guns anyway as I'm not gonna back down to pier pressure for the sake of it.

As for scooby23, i have no idea who he is.

In my opinion, 7100 for an STi with that mileage is about average. I didnt overcharge. I bought it CHEAP. Show me another 51 plate Sti with 40k advertised for 5300. I didnt buy it at the going rate and whack the price up. When I bought the car all I had was the cash from the sale of my old motor, and when I handed it over I told the guy that IMHO the car was worth a lot more but I didnt have more to give.

Weebell, I wouldn't worry about it mate.

This scooby23 sounds like a proper tail that doesn't know his **** from his elbow.

You're happy and the bloke you sold it to is happy so there really isn't an issue in my eyes. Good on you fella :-)

I don't give a damn about someone 'honestly' making money on a car deal.
Never managed it myself though

However; Judging by what I'm reading in other threads 'someone' sounds about as straight as Uri Geller's silverware

50/50 split for me really.

If it was me doing the selling and making a profit, then happy days.

If it was me that bought the car, and found out you had paid a fair bit less and just sold it on, i would be pretty pi$$ed off. but i wouldnt do anyhting about it, just would be more careful next time!

But if i never found out, i would be happy as larry if the car was all good!

You make a good poing about people talking the prices of Imprezas down on here too. No idea why they do it but some members of this community do nothing but try to bottom the prices of the cars out. Not really sure what they gain from this, but I have seen it a few times.

Yes, the market is tough but some folk on here want people to give their cars away.

No problems with someone making money on a car .Providing its straight and honest
Weebell has stated he isnt a trader to me in answer to a direct question
He appears to be involved with some very dodgy stuff though on the other thread which he chooses to resolve via pm's. Not the public comments he started here
Puts a different slant on scooby23's comments .Think he knows him and has sussed him out?

My argument isn't that the cars are worth less than whatever, i've just paid pretty serious money for a classic which some people may think was more than it's worth, some less however, but I'm not un realistic about prices at all, i spent 3 months looking at scoobys and i know what sells for what in reality in the current economy!!

My argument like i mentioned before is i know several of the kind of people that do this.. buy cheap and sell on for hefty profit regularly, and they are thieving tw@ts who stitch anyone up, even their mates! I've had to take mutual friends to one side and say, don't buy that car for whatever reason as they think they are getting a good car! So my problem is that the majority of people who do this are bent and out to screw people, fair play to people who love their cars, do them up as projects and sell them on for a fair amount. That's a hobby and that's a nice thing, just to buy a car cheap (what is it weeeebbbeeellllll did to that STI anyhow?) and sell it on for considerably more is wrong. Also something I'd certainly bare in mind is why it was cheap for him in the first place.

All my life I always gave people the benefit of the doubt, even until my late teens. But then I discovered what the real world is like, and that if you're nicer than you need to be to people you don't really know, alot of the time you end up with f*ck all and they end up having a laugh. Everyone in the end is here for themselves...everyone is selfish to varying degrees.

That's the reason I'll stick by my earlier comments. I believe I'm a very honest person though, and would tell anyone who came to view a car I was selling everything I knew about it(although any car I have is mint anyway, so no need to lie). But it's their choice how much money they spend on a car.

Well done for making a profit in these times.
If and when I come to sell my car (import wrx sti running around 380bhp with a fair amount of cash put into it)
I will ask on here how much its worth, then put it on piston heads for double what the clowns recommend its worth

Hey up andy how are you?
That would be me! Yes i did do all that travelling for a car BUT think its fair to mention the bloke had got fed up off users on here saying they were coming for car and not turning up or getting there and trying to bid him half off what he wanted. I rang and said ill give you 800 for car im not bothered what it looks like as long as engine and box are fine! got there gave cash and come back Well from me saying hello to me giving cash was about 30 seconds the bloke was very shocked lol both parts happy. (my wife wasnt lol).
Then yes i sorted some stuff out on it and put it up for sale and then yes i got slated mate by supposed "traders" and people that were waiting for the bloke to accept there even more stupid offer. In the end i broke the car and made 2600 off it so 1800 profit.

To the op the people that have been negative on this site have double standereds or are gelouse its simple mate. Fair play for you for making some brass and if you can keep doing it do it (i did lol) i stopped useing the site for 6 months due to some people on here and as a result had other users asking me to come back as they had met me and bought parts off me and new that i was 100% better person than the slandourose too much time on there hands negative hoe bags on here that choose to right ****ty stuff.

Rant over lol
