Where the hell is Nick Trott anyway?
I am keen to hear his views.
Perhaps he wasn't that interested in the first place.

My reply wasn't offensive and I take exception with anyone who says it was.

Ask anyone, Subaru owner or otherwise, "what is your opinion on your property being targetted by thieves?".

What answer would you expect?

How dare you holy know alls say that was a rude reply. I'd call it stating the obvious.`

What do you expect he'd print? "On contacting the Subaru community they say their cars get stolen by thieves a lot". Well DuuuuuuH.

You have missed the point. My spectacles are clear and completely non-tinted (BTW)

The facts are these..

1) The article IS going to be written
2) This means that it makes no difference whether you can imagine it being positive or negative (I can't imagine it being positive either).
3) We have antagonised him rather than taking the oportunity to possibly take the edge off / show a balanced view.

this is what I was getting at. Not that we should all be pleased to hear about this. But that we should try to find something positive in it.

Best regards

Simon

Simon,
I wasn't having a pop at you. I agree completely with your points, particularly number 3. We have gained noting whatsoever from slagging the man. The rose tinted spectacles was aimed at the 'positive and fair' aspect of an article which is going to show Imprezas in a bad light no matter how it is written. As an owner, I don't think that I could put a positive spin on such an article. To make the article fair, Nick would need to report on ALL bank robberies and the number of robberies/ram raids where scoobs where used. I could be entirely wrong, but I suspect this scenario is quite unlikely

Cool

What a thread. I think most of all we've proved to Autocar that Impreza owners are indeed **** and obsessive!!!

Surely the facts that attention should be drawn to are;

a)how the police have been regularly stopping many owners for spot checks on this BBS and otherwise as many threads in the recent months have shown.

b) Letters are being circulated by the Police (as per all the recent threads too) to warn owners of thieves operating in these areas and to take more precautions.- Showing that Police are obviously taking Impreza thefts very seriously.

c) That the Impreza would actually be quite a foolish car to nick in light of the above and the fact that they are no longer subtle dull looking saloons but usually flash full of mods saying pull me copper with massive gold wheels and spoilers etc. Therefore it would no longer be the car to nick.

d) In addition to ALL of the above, virtually all scoobs now (particularly courtesy of insurance companies) have Cat1 alarms/immobilisers and Trackers as well as perhaps other deterrents!

e) Also, make clear in the article that the best way for a thief to loose the coppers is to lift off aggressively mid-bend!

In light of all of the above I think I wouldn't choose the scoob for a bank job!

Nito

Bob - I'm just stating facts as a person qualified to use cetain R/T systems. They say it in films too so it must be correct ?? They have sound effects in space on films although sound cannot travel in a vacuum !!
I suppose you believe everything you read in the paper too ??

Webmaster - see above + if the guy uses common terms so inaccurately ie without checking they are correct, what chance is there of any "fact based" story emerging ??
