Can't be @r$£d reading 4 pages worth, but the forums always get quiet through the lighter months. Muppets may be dead in the water, but everyone else is just out enjoy the better weather and light nights instead of sat in front of a monitor bitching about the cold. It gets busy again during September.

The whole pslewis being banned but SSU being allowed to post for me hi-lights the biggest problem with this site.

If you are going to allow someone to continue posting why ban their account that everyone knows.

Most bizarre

pslewis hasn't posted for ages .... yet, still, sadly, he remains such a big figure in some peoples lives.

Says much more about those who cannot move on than someone being allowed a second chance ......

PS lewis, whoever he may be was banned before i started here.

Sunny Side Up is a member whom has exactly the same amount of chances under my administration as anyone else. I fail to see that as a problem. Ive banned plenty of members since i started and SSU will receive no different treatment if he were to break the rules.

As discussed in policy last year:

A) No. Consider this your new start. If I haven't seen fit to ban you in the past month then I can only presume you do actually know how to behave and therefore can carry on doing so until you breach the rules.

Previously banned user names:
Q) Will any previously banned user names be unbanned?
A) As mentioned in the past, I may at some time review one or two accounts that I have had regular feedback on and if these belong to any of the members that fit into the above scenario, the outcome would of course be heavily influenced by said members posting activities in the user name they have adorned since I became administrator.

No.
Any user name that was ACTIVE when i took the role of admin had all infractions deleted and the slate wiped clean so we all had a fresh start.
Banned user names remain banned and that isn't likely to change in the near future.

An even bigger problem was that he should never have been banned in the first place!

Agreed - but then we shouldn't ban anyone.

Especially if all you have to do to get round it is the equivalent of putting on a false moustache, nose and glasses

exactly, that makes bans pointless IMO!

Bans on an internet forum are bollocks anyway, if you cant say what you think on an internet forum, where can you say it?

reminds me of an old Kelvin MacKenzie (ex editor of the Sun) story

He had a habit of randomly picking up the phone in the newsroom, and one day he picked up the phone to an unfortunate man ringing in to complain about something or other

After Kelvin had shouted at the caller for a few min’s he then “banned” him from ever buying the Sun again – and put the phone down

2 min’s later he picked up the phone to the mans wife asking if she was banned too

There should be rules though, if only for the sake of decency. A load of bad insults or effing and blinding etc. can be offensive and only goes to show the poor ability of the poster at expressing himself.

PSL never went outside the rules anyway.

Selective memory? Rose tinted specs? or just infatuation?

lewis is a troll plain and simple - he contantly broke the forum guidelines - that's why he was banned.

Not true UB. He never did any trolling as such, but he had a very quick wit and although he did not break the rules by insulting anyone in an unpleasant manner, he gave as good as he got and some were unable to keep up with that.

He demonstrated a wicked sense of humour which was however never damaging to anyone and I think SN is the poorer for losing that.

I know his political thinking is strange to say the least, but it is a mistake to form an intense dislike of someone purely because of their opposing political views. he was nevertheless as fully entitled to voice them as is anyone else on this forum. He always accepted the criticism with complete equanimity.

Your first three comments do not do you justice!

Les
