Personally, I won't sell, and certainly wouldn't use pattern parts.
If I sell you guys an OEM filter, and you have the misfortune to do a big end bearing, you won't be blaming me. If however, I sell you a pattern parts filter, telling you it's ok, and you do a bearing, you will make my life hell, regardless that it's more than likely a coincidence !!!
Your so right; the stigma attached with cars and garages means that anything going wrong on a car automatically makes many owners assume its the garage at fault (reality is $hit happens ). Especially in these circles of people paranoid about big ends (yet some still try squeezing extra power out the engine, thinking no ill effect will come of it

.....Says the guy who ran his Impreza on Unipart filters, Castrol oil, Gates cambelts and Blueprint tensioners with no ill effect. And I don't treat my other cars any different - yup NSX with a Unipart oil filter (its just a tarted up Rover 827 engine anyway
