In a nutshell, you're not using them properly.
The performance friction package is excellent, but it relies on doing enough work once and a while to transfer friction material from the pad the disc, when working like this they are exceptionally good for the price.
You will benefit greatly from doing some controlled but swift stops or slows to get some heat into the pads and transfer some friction material. If you don't ever get an opportunity to do this, then you need a different pad, much more like an OEM style pad, however any decent performance pad will require an element of work to keep them at their best. And don't confuse this with pads that need heat in them to work (like dredded EBC yellowstuff) as once the friction material is deposited on the disc, the brakes will work well from cold too. It could be you have to work the brakes a little every few days if you're just commuting gently most of the time.

if you haven't already (I got a bit lazy towards the end of the last page, sorry!), you really need to check both pads on EACH WHEEL. I had pretty bad brake performance from my legacy when I bought it 6 months ago and after 3 months or so the brakes started 'grinding'. I 'checked' the pads and they seemed fine (that was just the outside one that you can see without taking the wheel off). Once I got the wheel off and caliper open, I discovered that the inside pads were worn all the way to the backing plate.
Until you have checked this you really can't say the garage is trying it on. If you do find that they are all ok though, I would personally tell them to **** off!

Perhaps I wasn't clear enough, the reason they have worn is because you don't use them hard enough. Without the friction material on the brake disc, the pads are much more abrasive on the disc and vice-versa. Although to be fair there is plenty of meat left, I think you're either not using them hard enough, often enough. A little more arduous use once and a while may actually improve the pad and disc life.
It could be you need to think about a different pad, something like a Mintex 1155 or ferodo DS2500 might be better for your specific needs, and both will make good use of the PF discs.

I can supply the same compound for your APs as used on ady's pads, which is a 97 compound PFC, their "softest" race pad, also recommended as a trackday pad. BTW the disc is on the wrong side in that top pic!

Paul,
I appreciate you taking the time to explain it, so because i do not brake hard enough and get the brakes hot etc its effecting the wear of them????? cutting approx longetivity by more than half it seems.
Well there should be some kind of warning about this as most ppl upgrade their brakes(generalization) for safety reasons IMO. not all buy them for the track or is this type of wear exclusive to the PF set up???
Still waiting for PF to get back to me, wont hold my breath.
