I'm keen to try the intake delete on my 2009 sti to try and get a few more sounds out of it , just wanting to know if it's a good idea and can it cause problems Thanks

Loveing the sti, playing around with the features today, sterio/speakers are good and found the subwoofer settings and adjusting the balance etc sound is impressive tbh.

Had a gd play with I, S and S# settings but dnt realy knw what im doing with the diff, there is auto, auto +/- then manual 1-> difflock, whats the +/- mean? As in is + mre front or rear etc?

Auto + increases lock in auto mode in the centre diff , auto - the opposite.

Manual lets you pick a lock rate from 1 to 6 ... not sure where auto sits in this range, no doubt Don or Rob or someone will educate us

Locking the diff more doesn't put more torque to the rear, it tightens up the connection from front to back. More lock means it is harder to turn, and in tighter turns, especially parking etc. it will make a noise and the car "jumps" as the diff overcomes the lock.

I find locking centre diff causes more understeer as the rear pushes the front onwards... try it in snow!
Great traction but can't steer on manual 6 !!

yep, well least it wasn't a 7 in the vin number lol

registered Jan 2009 on a 58 plate, so 2008 was the base car.
I bet most 330s are.

I've just bought an sti hatch, just wondering if this is the main thread regarding the hatchbacks or if there is specific threads talking about:

Mods
Wheels
Coilovers etc

Maybe even a hatch forum? Cheers

This is probably the most detailed thread on the Hatch. All the answers are spread over many pages so best just to pop your questions up.

PS. Ordered a Blouch 2.5 XT-R Dominator 'Polka pickle' with 8cm hotside whilst in the States at Christmas. Sold here as the SC 46. Will save £300 + after tax. Am defo keeping my top mount and will post results once fitted. Currently I'm waiting for Blouch to actually produce this turbo - as even their shelves are bare ... Hopefully with me by the end of Jan.

HI all,

i have just fitted an oil pressure gauge and was wondering if the readings are ok, on cold start up 6 bar dropping to 1.0 bar on hot idle, when driving at normal speed 3 -4 bar and when on boost 5- 5.4 bar.

My engine has had ringland and spun a bearing on the same piston all rebuilt and then mapped by Andy forrest and in 2000 miles it hasnt used a drop of oil as i check every couple of days (paranoia) lol.

Any advice would be appreciated.

First question, What weight oil are you using ??

when rebuilt I hope they used a new crank.

according to the service manual its 14.7psi on idle at 90c & 56psi at 2700 rpm

But i'd expect better than that to be honest, Mine runs at 30psi at idle and 90 psi at 2700 rpm & thats covered 40,000 since i rebuilt it..

all this engine fail talk, I've seen the other thread about this too, seems it happens a lot, can't help be a tad worried after just getting a hatch, how many have gone cuz seems a lot on that other thread, mre gone than haven't? certainly looked that way in the early days.

from what i can tell seems early cars mainly effected at low milage but is there a few newer or higher milage cars gone? and how much of a good fix was the mapping from subaru? i need to double check mines had this update in the last owners time. many of you seem to run 330-360 bhp fine so i am over worried already?

had spoke to scoobyclinic about a dyno run to make sure I'm running ok.

Im not sure what was replaced as it was a 3rd party warranty and they just said the engine was completley reconditiond and had to run it in for 1000 miles and then they checked it over and changed the oil, so i changed it again 3000 miles later with shell helix 5/30.

Then i ran it up to Andy Forrest for a remap, so far it has not missed abeat, but just curious to presures now i have the gauge fitted.

5w30 maybe a touch too thin for it to be honest, a good 10w40 would be ideal like miller cfs. you may also so an increase in pressures
