japanparts.com also sell them if you can find them on their website. Might be slightly cheaper.

Yeah I have that in my service book. The dealership local to me is very poor. I think they just type in a generic 5 year service for any old car they happen to have an enquiry about. The service dept there has always been poor.

So I have to have a serious think now about whether I want to cost myself more money than is necessary in order to have a stamp visible in my service book. I'd only get an oil and filter change of course but at over £100 dealer or more like £60 self-service its a hard decision.

Yeah not good is it! And it was 'about' £490. Nice and accurate figure.

I think for the sake of my service book ill take it to slowboy racing who have done my remapping and just have oil and filter change. Although I can do this myself I do want garage stamps on a car that's known to have engine issues

Fitting my mudflaps, I managed to break one of the clips that hold the bottom of the skirt onto the chassis. Its the one nearest the front of car on the underneath of the skirt. Does anyone know the part number so I can order some from a dealer or the size so I can find some on ebay? Also, it sounds like I may have water in my sills...any easy way of getting it out?
Cheers, Steve

Out of pure curiosity I had a look on the Subaru Super service menu pricing ( Which every dealer has) and a 5th year service comes in at £158 Plus vat...

needless to say if it was coming to me it would be even cheaper than this

That dealership (Walldonway in Maidstone if anyone wants to avoid) are having me over then aren't they! 60 month service £490 they told me as it includes plugs and brake fluid as well as air filter and oil. Cheeky buggers. I think I'm gonna go with slowboy. Neil has been great with my remapping and he knows the car.

Thanks for the offer though - think you're a way away from me in Maidstone

Not sure why you are having problems with Waldenway, I've been using them for about 6 years now and service has always been fantastic, and service costs well inline with other dealers, car had some warranty work with them only last Friday and again really pleased, are you speaking with Bruce, he is the main service chap?

Yeah it was Bruce I've dealt with from start to finish. My warranty is with a 3rd party company organised by Hammond Subaru where I bought the car last year. When I took my car to Walldonway with a squeaky door motor they called after a couple of hours saying that they had lubricated all the hinges - completely overlooking the great detail I'd given them over the phone to explain the fault, as it was actually the door motor when pressing the remote to unlock.

When I demonstrated the issue to Bruce he acknowledged it but then was hesitant about calling the warranty company saying they may not say yes. He suggested I bring the car back in a few months time when my service is due (very sneaky) and they will lubricate the door motor during the service. In the end I had to get quite forceful and tell Bruce I wanted him to call the warranty company and ask them. He called a week later and said the warranty company said yes to the motor replacement, and as the part was coming from Japan it would take about 2 weeks. A month later I called Bruce asking for an update and he said he didn't realise I wanted to go ahead with the repair, so hadn't ordered the part. It was then another 6 weeks between that point and today.

Today was simple enough - they only had the car for about 3 hours and was happy the repair was done. But when I was called I was told the warranty company wanted a copy of my up to date service record. Luckily the record is up to date, but had I decided to self-service or had been late with the most recent service I would have been forced to pay the full bill, as this wasn't explained to me prior to the work being carried out.

Before I left I asked for a price on the 5th year service just so I could get an idea of price. Bruce looked on the computer and said 'about £490'. When I asked why it was so high he said the service includes plugs which are expensive and labour intensive, and the went on to incorrectly say the service also includes brake fluid and air filter replacement.

I guess I just had a bad run but that's lots of small individual issues. I won't be using that dealership again but that's not to say others haven't had good experiences

been a a localish car show/meet tonight.... thought you might like to see a few pix...

how much is this worth>>?

a fellow photographer I see there each month said it's easy a Million.

could be a bit more than my friend Craig's car!!! (The Subaru) lol

some of my car..

I also tried some off camera flash shots, using a flash trigger and a very accommodating wife moving and holding the flash gun! lol

Got talking with a guy(Neil) who lives quite near me with a MY08 Hatch, he virtually followed me home and when he pulled up next to me at a set of traffic light I asked him if he'd come back with 29.7mpg on his digital display... he said NO..16.4mpg!!

There and back for me was 69.6 miles, so 29.7mpg I'm well happy with

Roll on next month when it might be a bit warmer

Nice looking cars

When I collected mine from the dealership today there was a Lichfield Type 20 hatch in the car park. Alcon brakes

I also liked the look of the front fogs - mine doesn't have these

Is woodford motor company womoco.co.uk your next closest? Luckily for me they are near my office so I drop the scoob in there and grab a courtesy outback instead of driving in my company vehicle. Mines having the rear diff sensor and gaskets replaced on warranty, nothing seemed too much trouble with them there. Parts should be here in a week.

Think next closest for me is either Canterbury or Tonbridge Wells. Not ideal when taking the car in as I either need a lift back a long way or wait for hours. I'm out of warranty in July this year so I can just begin taking it to local tuners instead of dealers

Ok, not a big deal then. I see slowboy mentioned a few times too, not far for me either as they are just over the Bridge by Brands Hatch.

epic fail by me but.......

Guys as some know i have a 60 plate saloon with the horrible looking fake chrome boot trim which i am looking to paint. Been to halfords and they do not have the code in stock so can not mix the paint so i took to the internet to get some, Found the code, found a supplier in Germany as no one in the uk came up on the search only for chip repair so ordered what was classed as a spray can in the right colour code. it turned up today looking like this

so i assume it is in fact a spray tin but not the assumption I made as an aerosol spray tin and requires a paint gun of some kind. question is

where can i get one that does not require a full compression set up?

Or anyone know of someone in the Berkshire area that could swap it to an aerosol can for me?

any advice welcome

Take it to your local Halfords and ask them to mix it in to a spray tin. They should be able to do that for you.
