Folks I'm also looking at 4 new tyres for the Subaru, but looking at winters for the spare set of wheels. Its the standard 17 inch wheels that are the spares, and the tyres are meant to be 235/45 R17 94 but the tyres I'm looking at are 225/55 R17 101.
Will these be ok or are these a no go?

Chevron are starting the work today, i am changeing the comp ratio for a snappier throttle but cant for the life of me remember what im going for, so after my build when i get the map tweeked il be going all out on the turbo, as you have said, maxing it out at about 380, is the airbox restrictive at this power? Also what supporting mods are needed to run meth on the standard turbo? Itl be years before i can really up the power, i wasnt ready for a rebuild so its hit the wallet hard
[/QUOTE]
There's a lot to be achieved from running the right compression ratio. I run 9.1:1 which is quite high for a turbo car, However off boost it drives incredibly well and the pickup is phenomenal... 500ft/lbs by 3900rpm what's not to be liked about that.
but by running a higher comp it's essential to ensure yo always run the best fuels you can.
my vf48 maxed at 380bhp on straight v-power & 420bhp on 16% methanol. it went ok but goes even better nowadays.

My VF48 maxed out at 390.8bhp. You can squeeze it a little more with meths.
That's with supporting mods... On a basic zorst and filter you'll get a genuine 365'ish.
AP organic good at this level as long as your lbs don't go too crazy. I've just fitted a Competition clutches stage 2 carbon/ Kevlar clutch which is good for 490lbs. It's v smooth oem feel.
I understand compression ratios don't want to be played with ...
Good luck. A
QUOTE=ericooper;11264158]My head gasket went last week, id saved up and decatted the car and got a safe map from andy F purely to protect me from piston failure, anyway a few weeks after i noticed id used water and suspected the gasket, confirmed after the coolant boiled over and didn't settle, i took the car to chevron for them to inspect last week and they have the engine now and the block with the machinist, im going to forge the pistons while shes there and go for a cosworth gasket, trying to keep the build sensible as im not after big power, il max out the turbo and that will do for me. Unsure exactly of engine spec but id say il keep stock rods. What do these turbos run out of puff at? And is worth changing the compression? Also i need a new clutch so chevron tell me, whats worth sticking in there? AP?

Bigger injectors as you need more fuel delivery into the engine for the meth's 750cc should do.
airbox needs replaced at 380 and above really as it starts to get restrictive

But nowadays it's all about minimising sublet jobs to keep it in house so we have just installed a fully automated testing lane. Myself appointed as test station Manager and Nominated tester will be doing the bulk of the work but John will be doing just testing too. Our Bolton low houses ford garage has always done the mots too. No worries just drop me a bell mate.

had my 5th year service done today.. two things picked up on.. rear wiper blade has a split
and
front anti roll bar bushes have a slight bit of play.. and he said being picky it's only very slight.
If next year I wantto change these... do I go WHITELINE?
if so, can I just swap the ones that need replacing.. is it a good upgrade?

Power =452
Kerb Weight =1.5 tonne very roughly depending on other factors such as aftermarket parts fitted, weight of the driver and fuel tank fill %
so you take the power and divide it by the weight and it will give you an approximation.
452/1.5=301bhp per tonne
add an 80kg driver and you'll be down to around 285bhp per tonne

Tesco's just across from work. I park in the furthest away from the spot on the way in. Someone's just cut the corner and taken the front of it. Come out and it was horrendous. so took it back to work and dumped it in the workshop. got a new wing on order only £56 which isn't too bad and a plastic bracket. then painting ontop. Complete *******s

The bumper was buckled in at first but I pulled the fog cover and vent off as they were unmarked, Then reached in and pushed it back into shape with my hands, quite flexible if nothing else and the bumper looks in good shape considering, just the lack of paint on it now makes it look crap.. The headlight has a slight scratch on it but that will flat out and machine polish back up.
Had to hunt around for the washer jet cover as that had sprung off into the distance. I'd like to know what hit it in the first place.. Not a very positive end to the day, Then to find out a courier driver had shunted my sisters mini cooper on the way home and smashed the back end and osr 1/4 panel in.
whats the 3rd thing that's gonna go wrong lol
