"A former environment minister has admitted claiming £16,000 on expenses for a mortgage that did not exist.
Labour MP Elliot Morley claimed £800 per month for a property in S****horpe, Lincolnshire, when the mortgage had already been paid.
Mr Morley told the BBC he repaid the money upon realising he had mistakenly continued claiming for his mortgage payments after it was repaid"
He paid it back 2 weeks ago 'when he realised' .... yeah, when he realised it was in the Public Domain!
This is blatant fraud and he should be put in court!!

I was watching the BBC News thismorning and apparently £100k has been paid back already by MP's. It really is a drop in the ocean.
I wish i could just pay back £16k with the blink of an eye though. Nice life if you can have it.

I still maintain that since we can no longer have any confidence in all those MP's, that parliament should be dissolved and a general election held so that we can start again. Those caught fiddling should be prosecuted and lose their jobs with no monetary compensation whatsoever.
how anyone can say it was a mistake to claim £16K for a repaid mortgage is just beyond reality. And that sentiment applies to all the others!

Concerning criminal prosecutions. We need criminal investigations into Morley(deliberate fraud), Blears (tax evasion), Maples etc etc
I am prosecuted if I commit the above and no doubt imprisoned.
It is important that these people are brought to book for these blatant crimes

What we should be worried about is of course the jobs losses, yet to increase beyond all estimates, and the inflation which will surely follow what they are doing! That is when it will start to hurt!
If they had saved during the apparent good years instead of throwing our cash away, we would be in a far better position.

I look forward to the day 'pete' gets fired from his cushy public sector non-job (whatever it is). What goes around comes around, and there's a lot of dead wood out there that needs pruning back.

First one has gone...
BBC NEWS | Politics | Tory MP quits post over expenses
ouch!!
Do you think any one of the scummy New Labour lot will have the courage to do the same thing - and stand up to be counted in public like that?? Could Mental show strong and decisive leadership like Cameron does instead of the usual bluster?
Could he hell....

Not especially, no.
But neither is that, true or otherwise.
At least we don't have to link to other posts to see the hypocrite in you now I'll give you credit for making it easier to make you look a bit of a ****
