Another vote for UKIP - Ashley Mote and Tom Wise were both suspended at the time as soon as their actions emerged - more than can be said of Labour MPs just paying back what they took.

As for trade, we buy 3 times more goods from the EU than we sell, I think they might want to continue to trade with us! The US, Switzerland and Norway all trade with the EU - why wouldn't we?

If you think the BNP can do that, then maybe you should submit an expenses claim for psychiatric care

I agree with all that Pete has said. I also think that those who are shown to have been committing fraud should be booted out of parliament forthwith. It is the only way to start rebuilding any kind of faith in politicians. Goodness knows that will be hard to achieve!

When it comes to voting, it is vital that we all do vote. It is our only bit of democratic power we have left and it is vital to use it and maintain it. There is no excuse for being too lazy to go to the poll. What possible good would it do if people did not bother to vote? What notice would the politicians take of that? It must be well and truly demonstrated to them that if they can't cut it in government, then they will be out!

All this shameful behaviour which has been exposed will make no difference to the way I vote. I have stated often enough that I do not suppport a particular party, just the one that I have faith in to do something positive for this country and its people.

I believe that we are being taken for a ride both by our leaders for their own self advancement and by the Eu Commission. That is something that desperately needs to be addressed before it is too late.

I think that the coming elections in June will show a big swing to the minor parties and I hope that will give a very important message to the others. my vote will be headed in that direction too!

Les, just to make it clear - I am not too lazy to vote,my polling station is but a 5 min walk from me. I just have no intention of voting as I have no confidence in any party or politics at the moment. As I stated earlier in this thread, I won't vote for the sake of it for the best of a bad bunch party.

They're my (current) views and I'll be damned if I change them through pier pressure.

Well, probably UKIP, or possibly BNP. If not I'll vote Conservative, Independent, Liberal, my cat, next doors dog and then possibly labour.......... no actually I rather not vote than vote for Brown and his cronies. Choices eh!

In all seriousness, this is the very issue that faces the politicians - the fact that the younger "vote" is almost too difficult to obtain.

Whilst the older generations see the validity of voting, we all agree (all generations) that all these politicians are a total shower, the "young 'uns" would rather not vote than vote for the lesser of the evils. The older generation feel that they must.

However, with each passing year, votes are becoming harder to get hold of. And the current situation will not improve their chances.

Perhaps it's always been like this, and the older you get, the more you view the voting process of something you have to do.

I was about to say "intriguing", but to me, it's not. Beer consumption and investigation of how much TO consume before being sick. Now THAT's intriguing!!

B@lls to it. Sure, one vote could make a difference, but probably wont Show me some evidence where out of ALL the elections/votes etc, 1 vote has made a difference.

I'll vote UKIP because a lot of what they say about Europe - unelected decision makers, the cost, imposing laws on us etc - makes a lot of sense to me. Of couse we'll still trade with Europe just as we do at present.

BNP really is bunch of suited thick thugs and their anti non-white stance is really well OTT.

I suspect there is a lot of anti-Europe feeling in the tories but they need to keep their powder dry for a while. But you never know........

I used to think the same at 14 ..... when you are mature enough to vote you will put these childish thoughts behind you ..... and then you will choose to vote instead of throwing up in the gutter.

Good Man! One of the advantages of our democracy is that if none of the candidates impress , you can stand for election yourself! Far better than dong nowt - that's just lazy and apathetic. Apathy is the resaon we have the current shower.
f you don't like the corruption, stand yourself!

Thumbs up

Now now Pete - don't go and spoil a debate with petty comments - you'll make yourself quite the t1t I *could* counter your comment with the fact that by the time you are sensible enough to vote properly, sadly you'll be close to death (if we are to believe your age )
I can't have upset you with my voter apathy? Well be prepared to get VERY upset over the next 12 months with the country's voter apathy.

And I thank all those dedicated (and potentially fallen) servicemen who fought for my RIGHT to vote. Whether I choose to vote or not is MY decision. And quite frankly your opinion of my decision does not even register on my "care-ometer". Whilst you have the potential to be sometimes entertaining, don't forget that you, like the rest of us, in this virtual world are meaningless.

Off to have some more beers

Yes fair enough Andy, and I can understand just how you feel. I am sorry if it looked as though I was accusing you of being lazy, I did not address that remark to any one in particular, but there are those who just can't be bothered though. What I will say though, this latest scandal is likely to cause more power to be achieved by a party which could be bad for the country. Your vote could help to stop that.

I agree that its a shame people fought and died for the vote. If they had known the state of our current MPs, would they have fought at all?

Where are the best and brightest people? Certainly not in Westminster!

As always a dignified response. I don't classify as myself in the "lazy". I classifly myself as one who (as per above post) doesn't see one party as any better than another.
