I dont usually visit the muppet forum...

Yoza, the HiHo thread is about Be the Canadian, by the Canadian, for the Canadian. A couple of HiHo-ers occasionally jumed over the fence to talk to us lot, but they usually stay in their comfort zone. HiHo thread is not necessarily about humour, it also involves their general chit-chat about Subarus, baby seats, BBQs, parties, other life events, buckets, hose pipes, spades....... the lot! Not that some of the muppets didn't try to seek their attention by grapping corners in their personalised thread, but HiHo-ers remained unaffected. Even last year's pre-infractions SN earthquake didn't affect them. HiHo-ers make a nice little Canadian community on SN via their thread. They just get on with it in their usual, peaceful way.
About "where did everybody go?" question, some prominent vocal names were banned for whatever reasons. Their loyals also exited with them to some other territory. Some of their remaining minglers (not mingers ) either don't have the talent to knock a joke together (they only went there for they were either mentally challenged, or to laugh on others' jokes), or they can't be @rsed as no one is there to like/understand/take any notice of their jokes anymore
Life still goes on, though

The short answer to the question is:
ex-webby wasn't keen on the cliqueyness of the Muppet forum. A couple of people had complained that they'd been treated harshly by the regulars, so in 2007 he appointed himself "Hutchmaster" and started personally policing all the threads. Any hint of dissent was met with multiple infractions and bans. After about a week of that he invented the "Super Hutch", a forum where everyone was invited and given "Super Muppets" badges; it was devised, I believe, to force inclusion of other users. Sonic, Swiss, Webby himself and a few others played with it for a couple of weeks until they realised nothing happened in it and no-one said anything remotely interesting or humorous. The old muppets carried on in the old Hutch talking bollocks and having a laugh as they always did. When ex-webby realised to his chagrin that his plan wasn't working, he re-combined the two forums, forcing everyone into conflict again. Many of those of the old muppets who dissented got lifetime bans (including Karl 227, Chip Sengravy, Neverguess, Onan the Barbarian, Daiscooby, Manda po, NDN), prompting them to go to an obscure forum on Rallytrader called "The Tent" where they all still reside, talking bollocks and having a laugh, unmolested by people butting in.
For two years the Hutch has been totally, utterly dead, whereas before it was making 250,000 posts per year of forum traffic. All bollocks, but funny bollocks even so.
So there you go.

awwww, Karl. That bloke cracked me up more times than anyone has. He really is a miss.
Chip Sengravy, the same. He was hilarious.
I love NSR, there are some fantastic wags and really helpful folks about, but there is also a multitude of whingers.
Things move on, I guess but I do miss the old crowd, a lot

So basically, exwebby killed muppets and lost 250,000 posts a year in the process, and new webby and his gang are killing NSR and the rest of the forum and have already lost 30% of forum traffic (in the last 3 months, how much more in the 3 before that?).

think it was mainly the exWeb to make the place tidier and look a little more polished for any prospective buyers.
shame, there used to be a really good atmos in the place, a little like a council estate social club if you like (cliquey) but non the less , good fun.
Shame really.

I think most people prefer the wider attraction of a bigger forum that has other areas of interest to them. Like dump valves, flamer kits, rally graphics, ironing-board spoilers and secondhand roll-cages ( ). The ex-muppets are quite happy to enjoy each other's company. We had a day or so in Muppets when Simon buggered off, but we decided that the atmosphere had gone and the smiley list was pathetic, so we went away again.

I thought Karl got his ban due to this thread https://www.scoobynet.com/non-scooby...-oblivion.html ? It no longer shows the 'received infraction' message, but I can assure you there were plenty Karl was a very funny guy!
I think NSR will go pretty much the same way as muppets did, the fun factor has gone here pretty much, a short time back any of the daft pissed up threads on fri/sat nights were immediately binned to muppets to die, I've not started nor seen any threads like that since, shame really, it used to be a great laugh here, it's just getting boring now

Cant comment on the "new gang" regarding NSR, but the old webclown really did shaft it (muppets) BIGSTYLE IMO
Of course he would always claim that his "statistics" were showing that forum traffic was increasing, because basically he is the ****ing best at everything in the whole world yaddda yaddda yadddaa
really quite sad, i very rarely posted in the old muppets forum as i was out of my depth half the time, but it did make class reading while bored at work.

Some might query my assertion that Muppets did 250k per year of forum traffic, but if you recall the prize giveaway of a Scoobynet fleece for the 1,000,000th post in Muppets, (cant remember the exact year, but I won it, still own it - probably no later than 2005) then you'll see that a further 800k posts have been added since then. Most of those were added before Summer 2007, so it's a pretty conservative estimate.

Just accept your part in the fiasco that was the pogrom against the muppet forum. You wanted to be a part of it, but when it was forcibly taken away from the people who created it and given to you, you hadn't a clue what to do with it.

And what part was that I played ? I think you will find that the only dissent I had with the original hutch was the fact that many new people who ventured into it, were drummed out because they didnt have the requisite scout badges. I didnt have any part in what emerged, I just entered into the spirit of the new hutch and used what we were given. It never took off because a lot of the funny and decent members were missing and so lost it's way.
oh and just for you
