They should all be in minis, dont they realise it would be easier on every single person on the road if they got school mums out of 4x4's?

Do my ******* head in they do grrrrrrrr!

So because a few people speed on "your" road you get passing speeders with your jetwash?

What if that caused a fatality?

I would have got out and given you the hiding of your life if you did that to me, then cleaned the blood off my jeans with the jet wash!

Just cos a few poeple speed doesnt give you the right to put lives in danger!

Is two fatalities in however many years (10+?) above average for such a stretch of road? I mean obviously no fatalities would be ideal but sh*t happens, kids run out from behind parked cars etc. and it's going to hurt at 40mph.

As for animals if you live near a busy road then don't let them in it. They could be causing a danger to motorists, as they could swerve to avoid a cat running into the road possibly into oncoming traffic or onto the kerb either way potentially causing further fatalities. Keep your pets within your own boundaries and if taking them outside of that make sure they are controlled (i.e. put the dog on a lead).

Keep your cat indoors if you value it (And that way you'll also be doing you neighbours a favour as they won't be sh*tting in their garden and also the local songbird population as it will be one less predator for them to deal with )

Amazing how we all dont like cameras unless we want one in our street, how ever dont go for road narrowing or speed humps, they will both cause problems for locals.
Sadly a cat run over at 20 is just as dead and flat as one run over at 50.
Dont forget 90% of shaved ****** prefer whiskers .....................
we have tried to speak to the local police as our lollipop lady at the village school keeps getting knocked over and sidewiped by the same motorbike on several occasions. They were there one day and we mentioned it but they never followed it up

I actually dont want a speed camera on our road. I think road narrowing would be far better . The locals (us included) will just have to live with it.

They are putting lives in danger by ****ing speeding , not me
I will do whatever I feel is necessary and if you came along speeding, not only would I get you with the jetwash, but I would lob a rather large sized stone through your window just to get your attention. Feel free to stop your car and have a word with me if you like

ah the other side of the arguement and very well put
However I dont know the stats for how many deaths make it a dangerous road, but you are right, 0 is the ideal number.

Difficult to keep our cat indoors, before the accident he never ever went near the road. Something must have spooked him to make him go anywhere near it. I know prevention is half the battle, but you try keeping a cat confined to just the rear garden.

This is the road in question.
As you will see, maybe a road narrowing section at each end of the road

Prime candidate for a Specs system.

Could try giving them an email: Speed Check Services

I mailed them a couple times a few years ago to confirm some hoax emails/posts and had a human reply answering my questions

I cant imagine you will get anywhere with this. Its taken me about 10 years to just get our road resurfaced. One of the elderly residents tripped over a hole in the road and nearly got decapitated by a passing car. I damaged my car on the same potholes and now the road is to be re surfaced

I think it also depends on who is fighting your corner. And i bet your cat uses loads of roads, some more risky than yours. You never know what cats are up to

Good luck anyway

Our cat does not use any roads (well not before the accident) as you will see behind us is all fields so plenty of room to go mousing

I know progress can be pedestrian at the best of times, but 10 years !!
I will be just about ready for my mobility scooter by then

Further along the road heading into town there is a speed camera. Just to show how useless it is, here is the stats from it

Yep, nearly 10 years. I should have put her head in a pothole and ran it over

couple of ways the daylight method -

Soak the road with jetwash, tip around 60 litres of red diesel or home heating oil on the damp patch, put up a little warning sign then sit back and observe. Those who obey road signs will be fine - those who dont can be collected from nearby fields.

After dark, drop a couple of breeze blocks at random locations on the road. Those obeying the limit will see them and be able to steer around them, those who dont will still be there in the morning!!!

What a nice place to live...nowt behind you and not much in front, other than the road you dont like.

I suggest you move your house back 400 yards, that should sort out all your problems.

If this sounds like a bit of an upheaval, flashing your boobies from the roadside will definitely slow down the traffic.

see if your local plod do this schem

Speed or Safety? Community Speed Watch

basically they hand out speedguns to th community -- you give the details to the plod and the speeders get a letter politely asking them to change their ways

Swiss mate it was nothing personal, i just dont like the idea of some neighbourhood watch warrior covering my windscreen so i cant see, to me that causes more problems than it solves, but i still would have stopped dead in the road and had a hulk moment!

Im half scottish and sometimes my temper gets the better of me!

That is a cracking idea. I will have to see if our local Thames Vally do it, but they tend to be too busy being on Traffic wars

No problem. I dont want to be the Victor Meldrew of the road, I hate jumped up do-gooders myself, it is just frustrating when you see idiots doing double the speed limit without a care in the world. I am no angel myself and have been known to drive like a tosser on the odd occasion, but this road is just so dangerous that it worries me.

I agree largely with B2Zero above. We have natural restrictions on the main road which goes past the front of the house where it is necessary for a car to stop to let another pass in the opposite direction.

Exactly what B2Zero says happens, they either speed up to beat the other car or they try to go through at the same time and lose the side mirrors. They then spend several minutes shouting at each other while they block the road! And they never bother to pick up the broken glass!

The "road narrows" sign seem to make no difference either. It is usually holiday makers who cause the trouble, the locals have more sense!
