Perception is a weird thing. It just takes one thing for one vocal person to take in a negative and obtrusive manner, for it to snowball into a common thought amongst many and then for it to linger for a seeming eternity.
I found that out by getting scorned just because I had a little moan about deleting some nice (albeit nude) pics of SN's finest wives and girlfriends (seeing I like that kind of thing ), reminding me of how clearly this was not acceptable in open areas of SN. That boundry set and rules in mind made it clear on how to keep people happy, as by the feedback, thats what they wanted. Nope, few months later I get berated for removing graphic images just to keep the original bunch who scorned me happy. Not that they backed me up on that; as they are still disillusioned from my initial moaning.
Lets mention the conspiracies that pop up. The latest one is that I can ban IPs. New one on me, I can't do that, but how the hell do I prove it though? By NOT banning someone? And now its been mentioned, people will read it, jump to a conclusion and it'll stick like mud. Nothing I can do about it. If I leave it, it'll carry on being spread. If I argue it, I'll get called a liar. If I delete/edit the material, I get accused of a cover up.
Its amazing how some things that should be so downright idiotically simple can get so misconstrued, twisted and distorted. Now, I've never worked in the media, politics, law or police. But I'm just starting to get a sniff of how interpretation and focus of hate towards anything that is ever so slightly and remotely authoritarian can be, even if its fairly liberal.

And to think, I can count the number of infractions I've issued on one hand.
