Pezza, at no point has Scoobyman said he was done for DD, just 2 x speeding inside the first 2 years of license. Terzo --- said he had been done for DD.
Edit - I see SM1982 has subtly replied to you.

My mistake, you was speeding.......
The topic has gone from speeding to DD, maybe SLOW DOWN IN FUTURE THEN!
I am interested to see the outcome from crown court, maybe a BIGGER ban and fine?

The decision to take a bend fast is an excercise in judgement.
The decision to drive after drinking is a lack of judgment...
The driver who decides to take their favourite bend fast will then in all liklehood excercise their judgment to drive slower/more appropriately during the remainder of the journey. The drink driver has impaired their judgment for the whole of the journey.
One is in a completely different category to the other.
The argument "I only had 1" just demonstrates the lack of judgment further.

When going to court I trust you had suitable legal advice and indeed representation?
I only ask as I have unfortunately been in that position more than once in the last few years, and am certain that by having the correct representation I minimised the outcome. (Though did end in a short ban, when a much longer one was possible).

there looking at "special reasonings". as law states loosing job, house having kids etc is NOT special reasonings. so there looking at this "old law" situation and have reconinsed its not a very well stated law.
DVLA need to revise there rules imo.. i was 4 weeks from the end of my probi!

ANYTHING up to 3.5 tonnes has a RESTRICTION on limits..........
The highway code states this in speed limits, which you should have known when taking your test, just like braking distances, thay have changed CONSIDERABLY from when the book was written, but the distances still apply!

You are pissed off due to not doing your research and finding out what speeds you can do in larger vehicles.......you passed in a car so you think speed limits apply for ALL vehicles?

If it was so obvious, then why come on here crying that you (may have) lost your licence?
You dont get sympathy for doing silly things, i didnt expect it on my roundabout thread, why do you think your different, cos you have a house to feed (like most on here) and may lose your job?
I have issues with work at the moment, due to something silly i done whilst in my coach, but i WONT be making it public to get sympathy out of it!
At the end of the day, you done WRONG, learn from it, and if the vehicle was your employers, maybe you have a case against them for not putting a limiter on it?

late last year i got clocked doing 73 mph in my work van on the a303. already having 3 points and being within my 2 year "new driver period" that would take me to 6 points. went to magistrates who basicly said tuff... heres 3 points i appeled aganst it and took it to crown court hoping for a better decision as i drive for a living and would loose my job, house n everything. after being ajerned a couple of weeks ago until a later date i was told i could still drive as crown court have come to no verdict.--the explanation or no 1 will know what im on about
on the m4 today on way to wales to get a call from my missis saying dvla want my licence. so i rang them and explaned its gone to crown and a verdict has not been made. in short.. duff tittys! i been driving for the last week un insured as i have had my licence revoked and i need to re-take both my tests again!!!----the rant.....
Thanks... this country takes the ****... cant even tell a man if he can drive or not!! the only man that can tell me is my breef who is "away till monday" so im now sat in wales at my mates house wondering if i can drive home or not!---the sticky situation im in
not a happy bunny and i think im gonna have to sell the scooby as i aint gonna be able to insure it again as a new driver?? will my no claimes still count?QUESTIONS on the matter i just explaned
disscuss.....this means talk about it!

My opinion on DRINK DRIVERS and drivers that dont know what speed they are allowed to do are the same as others on here.......
If you dont want opinions, dont post here to start with, i can take it AND give it, if you cant do the same in return then dont give it to start with!

Chris,
Sorry mate, for the first time ever on here I've got to disagree with you. The decision to drive after drinking is not due to lack of judgement, it is an intentional act. I have never met anyone arrested or charged with DD or DIC who drove accidentally having drunk too much. When it's all said and done we all know how alcohol affects us. Even if it's the following day, most people know when they've had a drink the previous night and that alcohol stays in your system for quite a number of hours after you've stopped drinking.
I suspect that there's probably a bit more to the poster who stated they were disqualified after 2 pints of Stella shandy.

My point is that the drink makes the judgment flawed and effects the whole of the journey. I agree that the individual makes a decision in the first place
