From: Enginetuner Plymouth for 4wd RR Mapping Apexi Ecutek Alcatek Proper Garage More than just a laptop!
Managed to get some slightly better footage of my 10.88 at Shakey last weekend.
But the stock 5 speed box finally let go on Saturday, it served me well this year and to the best of our knowledge holds the record for highest output and fastest 1/4 on a stock 5 speed box. Time to decide whether to strip her and really go for it next year, or keep her as a road car and stay where I am.

thanks shaun i wish i had the block relinerd it would of be intresting to run more boost on a built 2.5 with 20% or even 40% E85 but that ment bigger injectors more cash and me sleeping in the street due to the mrs kicking me out lol. and to be honest in a type r it more than enough for what its going to be used for.

Mus,
No need to re-liner the block mate. I think my OE casing and also a few others have proved that so far. You are already pushing a fair old wedge of boost. Built properly you should not have any problems at this level, as long as you don't spend months on a RR, rag the pants off it on track and then decide to throw 2.5bar & E85 through it!
You are absolutely correct though...... you have more than enough power for a Type R!!! Enjoy!

I LOVE reading this thead.
I'm going to be purchasing the Engine tunner 2.1 block and S206 in the near future. I'll be re-using my STI3 heads.
I've been speaking (read asking lots of annoying questions ) to Alan via E-Mail for the past 6 months. Thanks Alan.
I'm finally getting there now though. Jut need to sell the 20G and all the supporting mods in order to make room for these goodies!!!
This thread makes me want this set-up even more

Looking at the results I cant wait to getting my car back from the Engine Tuner boys in a couple of weeks with its 2.1 / S206 / Simtek combo
Although mine will be mapped slightly more gingerly to about 450ish as its my daily driver, at least I know what it can do it I have the urge

Cheers guys,
Yup, I'll be running a Simtek also
Its not going to be a daily runner as I have diesels for that nor will it be a weekend road car (I have an AFP mapped MY53 WRX for that ) so 740's and new everything for this engine!!! No chances taken there. I'd love to see close to 500BHP so I'm willing to spend a bit of cash on Cosworth head bolts etc and turn boost up a bit.
Stripped and caged toy is the plan
Reading this thread just makes me want it even more. The classic is "interesting" at times with circa 400BHP on the 20G so can't wait to see what it feels like in its next stage. Even if it takes me a year to get there!!

Lets just say she knows some of it
She knows everything I'm selling thats for sure as she saw the list so I'm pretty sure she has a rough idea. Its one of the down sides to having a wife that knows her way around an engine.
The continuous delivery of boxes is also a bit of a give away.
She also knows about the new block as its a bit difficult to hide what I'm doing in the garage when its built onto the house..... who else will bring me cops of tea. . Besides how long did she think I could live with her car having a stronger block than mine. We have been toying with the idea of shoving the VF35 and a set of pinks onto her car to make use of that Spec C block
Hows your engine tuner 2.1 block then? Is it fitted yet?

yes i bet thats all she knows,..................................... some of it!!
Well im waiting for the new up pipe and turbo intake to arrive today/tomorrow, it starts and runs fine, but is a bit smokey when under load, Im not sure if this is down to old oil thats dried up in the exhaust due to the last engine failing (it was smokey as hell when it let go) and is burning off when the exhaust is hot again, or if its a overfueling issue, once these bits arrive ill head up to the garage and pull the plugs for a look and take it from there, if i cant find anything looks like i will need to take it to Wallace and get it plugged in hopefully they will have a better idea of what might be wrong, might as well get some kind of running in/base map on it as well as long as its on the rollers

Hmmm... remind me again what happened
- it was smoking so turbo was rebuilt
- refit and still smoking so bottom end was suspected (was comp test done or rattle etc)
- 2.1 CDB fitted and now still smoking (blue or white by the way)
hows the idle?
Sorry for the thead hyjack Alan
