Brown Booed By Vets at D-Day Celebrations
#32
They will have known that Flash should have ensured that the prat Sarkozy had sent an official invite to the Queen and quite rightly were furious that she was not attending. The reason for that ommission is uncertain but there are those who say that Sarkozy and Brown wanted Obama's full attention on themselves without distraction from the Queen's presence!
A Dutch patriot had produced a pile of badges with the Queen's head on them in protest against the lack of her presence and was distributing them to anyone who wanted one. One of the elderly British soldiers there was wearing one and when asked why by a presenter he said it was in protest because of his feelings about it.
It was a shameful episode, there is no excuse for it, and I would have booed Flash too!
It is worth remembering that both the Queen and Prince Philip were in the armed services during WW2 and did well during it. That is a lot more than any of these modern politicians can claim!

I would have been booing Brown had I been there.
The veterans probably felt they were short-changed on the day.
They wanted a figurehead who has integrity, honour, is trusted, has the respect of the British people and the Commonwealth, truly understands the sacrifice they made and is generally a 'good egg'.
Sounds a bit like the Queen to me.
What did they get? A complete embarassment. Booing Brown was simply an easier option than cheering him. You have to live with yourself, after all.

Apparently the Queen wasn't important enough to have been invited but a paper today says that Tom Hanks was invited to some of the celebrations ... Says it all about today's politicians to be honest. If I'd been one of the vets I think I may well have 'fixed bayonet and charged' Brown rather than just booing ....

So thats that sorted then.
Vets should be whatever the hell they want on THEIR day.
Booing, hardly anything serious eh.
As for the queen not being there, disgusting IMO, seeing as she was in the armed forces during the war. No, not frontline, but probably one of the only senior figures available who was involved in the day.
What did Obama think? Who knows, but its shameful that he was the one, NOT Brown making public statements saying it would be lovely to have a royal there.
Well done boys, for the war, and the booing

HM the Queen may not have served on the front line during the war Snazy, but her husband sure did, and with honour, too
I wouldn't be surprised if the French veterans felt as short changed as ours either, being represented by the son of an **** sypathiser can't have filled them with pride
I think you'll find those who booed have more of an idea of the history and sacrifice than you will ever begin to comprehend Nat

"Its my D-Day and i'll boo if I want to"

You don't.
So your statement is completely flawed.

WTF are you on about old boy?
He was invited to the event. It would be massively rude and insulting to not attend. He attended and made a heartfelt speech, mentioning nothing about politics at all.
How is that a pub stunt?

Ooooh I get it, you mean she should have just turned up and imposed herself and her entourage on the event.
You're right, how thoughtless of her
Nat, do YOU know who booed? It was a LOT of people I know that much.
So your arguement is also flawed without knowing.
spireite, could not agree more.

She didnt go, because she was not invited. When Brown knew he was, and she was not, should he have not questioned it?
Oh but of course not, more UK media attention for him eh

Im not sure how many people watched the Derby but the Queen did'nt seem to be to upset she was missing out.
Sarkozy is an idiot, no doubt about it he has small man syndrome and needs to get himself in check pretty fast, France are quick to make enemies but even faster to come running for help when they get out of there depth.
Brown is a national embarrassment, How big must a mans ego be to be the most unpopular PM in history, not be elected but to have inherited his job, have his closest work friends turn on him, get boo's by brave brave war vets and still go on record as saying he is making progress and no one really wants him to stand down.
If we can stick it out, just a few more months then this idiot will go, hopefully far far away, we wont take rubbish of the french and alike anymore, and we will have a government who can take care of not only its vets (see how NL refused to pay for music so the German army sent a band) but of its people.
I am rubbish at ranting, and I know at least a few people will think I am talking out my backside. I just fail to see how people in power can still refuse to except that a general election will sort this mess out.
or the short version.
Yeah... brown is a right *******.

It's not the PMs office's job to organise the Queens days out.
Are you really suggesting that Brown should have snubbed the invite?

The PM was invited and attended as to not do so would be massively offensive and against protocol to the French, Veterans and everybody else involved.
The queen was not invited and did not attend, nor did she ask to be invited.
What are you actually trying to say?
#52
you clearly have no grasp of history to realise the British did not run away , back under your bridge my french coward

No its not his place to organise it, and a good job too by the looks of the way he does other things eh.
Amazing that Obama felt it worth mentioning, but our own PM.....didn't.
Still, what else could we expect eh.

brown is nothing but a f*****g idiot and so are all the other cardboard cut out c***s that are wrecking this sorry *** country! he should not of attended. he should of been lying in his bed dying from anthrax!!! someone who survived to tell the story of what happened and how many of them lost friends upon friends doing something that we should all be proud of. they were the real men! they are the ones that deserve to have their hand shook and their backs patted every time their met. they did a REAL job with REAL results, unlike brown (the stain found in underpants!) who gets paid stupid amounts of money to wreck this place!!!! what an **** they all are! give us back our country, money, jobs, prospects and everything else the thieving *******s have taken!!! VETERANS we owe you everything, well done!!!

It is completely against protocol and the done thing for the PM's office to interfere with the Queens affairs or plans in any way unless asked to by the Queens secretary. To do so would be extremely offensive to the Queen and the monarchy and would be completely outside the remit of the PMs duties and office.
Common sense and courtesy are over rated anyway.
