My father swerved in the war, i knew him for 32 years beofre he died. I am pretty sure he would have been disgusted with Brown and would have booed along with the others. I think i knew him well enough to make that statement I do doubt that they would have booed at any of the ceremonies or other points where it would not have been the time and place.

Nat, really if not UK veterans who have seen how Brown has treated the armed forces, and watched this country run down, etc do you think booed Brown, being no other head or leader was booed -

Do you think it was, Zee Germanz???

Why not ?
They are human, UK citizens, and are allowed to have and voice an opinion.
Maybe it was not them, but at the end of the day, honour or not, they are affected.

Could not have put it better myself.

Nat, you almost sound anti royalist in some of your remarks. If you are that is your entitlement of course.

The Queen however in her position as head of the country and the Armed Services, and her past history during WW2 should have been the first to be invited as anyone will admit.

How could any PM having been invited without an invitation going to the Queen not notice the fact in the first place and secondly I propose that it was his and his government's duty to ensure that the prat Sarkozy sent her an official invitation. If that was not done he personally should have refused to go himself on a matter of principle.

The Royal Family supported the people in every possible way during WW2. Apart from our present Queen entering the military, her parents King George VI and the Queen Mother deliberately remained living in Buckingham Palace during the bombing attacks on London since they said they felt they had to remain at one with their people. They always made a point of visiting bombed parts of the Capital to support and to commiserate with the people affected and they were most highly respected by the people of this country.

Those veterans were hoping of course to see the Queen, that would have been very important to them because of what I described before and also because she is the head of the Armed Forces. You really can't blame them for being highly pissed off with Flash!

lol, oooh I can see that we've got the usual suspects

I haven't heard any veterans publicly complaining about people booing, surely if it was such an awful thing they'd make their voices heard as well, rather than having some charming individuals on scoobynet do that for them

I find myself agreeign with Nat here. When i saw it on the news i felt it was completely the wrong occasion to do it. This was a ceremony of respect, that action, to anyone shows no respect and was out of keeping with the events of the day. They should have known better.

That isn't to say they don't have a good point. I'm not sticking up for the way things are it is just that there are better ways to do it. A banner with "Why wasn't the queen invited" would have been better and would have been in all the papers/TV etc

Also i don't think that the PM's office can interfere with the Queen's diary as Natsaid. For the PM to be fighting the Monarchy's battles would be nothing sort of rude. If nothing else the Queen's office should have been in touch with them to see what the proposals were for the day, to remind them she would and should have, played a major part in it all.

No its not his place to organise it, and a good job too by the looks of the way he does other things eh.

Amazing that Obama felt it worth mentioning, but our own PM.....didn't.
Still, what else could we expect eh.
A bit late to ask, but how do you know he didn't question it? because the papers said so maybe? Some posts on this forum are ignorant it defies belief....

On a general note....
Seeking self publicity etc? do me a favour he's the bloomin PM he doesn't need to seek it he gets it if he wants it or not, his own self publicity?. All the Brown bashing on here is getting stupid now, I'm guessing most the people bashing him with personal insults and making sht up aren't old enough to remember past PMs. Its fare enough to be peed if you're suffering due to his policies or you support another party but some of the personal crp getting on this site is just dumb and nieve at best........I'll probably vote labour next time in a vain attempt to prevent this country making the mistake of letting the Tories in. I'm old enough to remember what a Tory government was like.
If I had a choice I wouldn't vote Labour, it pains me to do it now if honest, but that just goes to show how bad the alternative would be, I mean just look at them ffsake jumping on one band wagon to the next, hardly any decent policies and when you consider Browns biggest fup was not regulating the banks better, do you really think the Tories would? do me a favour!

We sooo need an alternative to our main parties, can guarantee this time next decade people will be posting the same crp about a presiding Tory PM.

As for insulting Flash. No need to. I thought Tony Blair was the worst PM that the UK had ever had. Until Flash arrived on the scene.

Dave

PS: actually it's a bit of a toss-up with Ted Heath. Him being the one that took us into the EEC ..... and we've been part of the Euro Project ever since. Until we're out there is no way anyone can sort out this country properly.
Blair worse than Major...REALLY?? I thought TB won THREE general elections, or is that the reason you don't like him?...yes makes sense now.

Didn't the last Tory government screw the economy badly at least TWICE?

Your memory is obviously either selective or just leaving you

The chancellor who inherited a booming economy from the Tories and proceeded to c*ck it all up as he tried to social engineer the economy for Labour to be in power for all time.

But apart from that, ALL politicians are on the make. We need a complete clean sweep so that none of the main parties gets anyone significant into power. If you think 'but where will we get politicians with any experience to run the country', why does that matter? The civil service do most of it anyway. get new blood in for a fresh start, starting with getting us out of the EU.

Dave
I think you've finally gone mad.....

btw I utterly disagree with you on Blair I think he showed a hell of a lot of guts, determination and principles just ask anyone living in Sierra Leone, or Kosova, or under the boot of Sadam or the Taliban. I think he made mistakes for sure. Where did you get the 'lining his own pocket' bit from???

You just want to rubbish ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING he or this government has ever done, it matters not whether they've done good or bad, you just hate them for existing.

ALL politicians are not on the make either that's just one more example of you apply your own in-built bias or cynicism to the situation, unless you have evidence that EVERY MP and politician is a crook on profiteering.

I love the line about this government 'inheriting booming economy'....would you care to expand as to why the economy was booming...due to Tory economic policy? or due to the complete collapse of the Tory economic policy? (ERM remember that?)
