Newscooby 04 is correct.
Everyone bangs on about Bhp & lb/ft, it's not the most important factor by a long way.
The raw performance, balance and feel of the car is what it's all about.
I am running a genuine 500+ Bhp Impreza P1 and I would be amazed if any car with higher power figures would keep up from any chosen "A to B" route, because much input has been put into the whole car and not just Bhp.
In the same breath there could be a well balanced car at 420 Bhp that may beat mine.
I used to believe that Bhp & lb/ft was thee most important thing. It's not.

you even sound like Olly
I took my wrx (new age) to the 380 - 400 bhp range about 3 years ago after Bob Rawles said it would be possible
the turbo I fit had simular spec to a 321h
the car ran with out fail for 2 years and 10k miles of sunday driving (hard road driving)
always had it in my mind to replace the engine when it went bang not if
the small power band doesn't make for a nice road car, and the thought never left my head that i better not push too hard as I want to get the car home
a well setup 330 would of kept up with me on 99% of roads and probably felt more planted
the sound of a garret based turbo filling the front mount and the kick in the back at 4k will bring a smile to any one's face
you would need to get a mapper to confirm but I guess that a mapper will change the way the car behavies to what he has to work with
eg its pointless bringing the power in as hard as possible if he knows the drivetrain isn't up to it
don't compare stock sti figures (spool andd power) to a stock wrx

i did my best
definitely all theoretical because all engines are slightly different what with manufacture and build tolerances ...just wanted to remind the power hungry on the thread what the most likely consequences are of increasing power on standard internals beyond a certain level. I knew I was going to break mine, it was only a question of when...so I was prepared for it

Just out of interest Trails what mods had you made to your vehicle prior to the Big Bang & was your car mapped by any reputable mappers? You only stated that you was running an 18g turbo & i have actually met a few people that have added large turbo's no map & then say their car popped shortly after which led them to look @ Evos. Not to say anyone on here would do that.
there's another thread that brings the story up to date; https://www.scoobynet.com/projects-4...on-fettle.html
drivetrain\engine mods at the time were;
Hybrid TD05 18g (from Andy Forrest)

Trails, can definately see you gave your project thought. It's actually beyond what i had considered doing immediately myself but proves very useful with how far i will go right now. Thanks for sharing.
