I thought Pete worked for the government. If he does, then he could be in line for a 6% pay rise of sorts - pay progression plus performance bonus would be around that figure, although about 2% would be non-consolidated.

For most members of that union - the 60% or so who are at the top of the pay range - the offer is only worth 1% and so the union has recommended rejection. It is also true that poor performers would get nothing.

On the other hand, he's probably just lying as usual!

I remember once he (the lewis persona) posted up a picture of his fridge / freezer, with a small RC Scooby car in it.

The freezer was pretty much empty apart from some very cheap and nasty reconstituted lidl chicken burgers. He ran a mile as he always does from why this was his choice of food.

I rest my case about his 'apparent worth' and wealth

Simple, really serious, question:-

"Do you think it is healthy to have such an obsession?"

Intrigued, as I remember nothing about what you post, your words mean less than nothing to me

Teachers get an Increment Rise PLUS an Annual Rise .... worth about 6.3%.

I am not in Government, nor am I a Teacher.

I work for a private company, who have announced a 0-6% Payrise. Applicable from the lowest performers, to the top performers.

I consider this fair and just as it rewards those who deliver ... one of the Unions representing me disagree.

Same here, but I'm not a teacher.

Anyway, without confirmation of who the trade union involved is, this is just the usual bit of '****-stirring'. It would clear up a heck of a lot if you were honest just the once but that's not what you're on the bbs' for

'one of the Unions representing me disagree'

Hmmm, one of the unions representing you, how many are you a member of?

How long ago did the company start looking at the performance related system and start talks with the union on it, when is it being implemented? Surely this didn't just come out of the blue.

It also seems that you suddenly said you'd found out you were getting the 6% anyway despite the unions decision, halfway through the evening. How does that work? lol, were they working through the night to ensure the deal? piffle

Let the hilarity continue

Isn't it good when you find out how pleasant it is to grow up, and how it can help you to make a telling post in a good mannered fashion? Have you noticed how much more notice people take of you and how disappointing it is when you realise that you have just produced a load of boring rubbish!

ok

the UCU want a 6 % payrise..."Lecturers are asking for 6 per cent in an attempt to narrow the estimated 10 per cent pay gap between their salaries and those of schoolteachers. The dispute has already seen a one-day strike, on the same day as the National Union of Teachers' action last month"
the UCEA rejected a 6% pay rise.."University and college lecturers' unions involved in an ongoing dispute over pay have rejected a "derisory" 6% pay increase offered by employers. "
UNITE turned down a 6% payrise "Roger French, managing director of Brighton and Hove Bus and Coach Company, said a 6% average pay rise with a £300 lump sum was turned down by the Unite trade union yesterday."

T&G "Union chiefs have so far refused to put the offer of a five per cent rise over 14 months to their membership. They are demanding an immediate 6.15 per cent raise." T & G it is then!!

could be wrong though

I never said I was a member of ANY Union!!

What I DID say is 'One of the Unions who represent me' - we have a collective bargaining agreement and many Unions represent a whole range of collective interests, skills and specialisms.

Either way, the Company are paying what they have offered ... which is good for me

I know what you were saying. I just like seeing you get all in a kerfuffle

Your words in this thread seem to be nothing but waffle then. Why not just get the thread started by stating,

"Hey everyone, I got a payrise whilst lots of you aren't getting anything but paycuts and redundancies. The company I work for are just fab and are clearly better than your employers, f*ck you very much. Discuss ",

rather than the thinly veiled antagonistic approach, which you regularly take, although it does amuse me

Hi. Yeah, the fact that unions can reject pay deals which look to be great on the surface is not in dispute but it is true that there are usually a lot of reasons for these decisions being made in the first place.

That Post would be considered Baiting and/or Trolling, my post however opened a discussion about how Unions can scupper pay offers - even if those offers seem pretty reasonable ..... which I am sure you will agree was not baiting or trolling.

It also got some discussions going regarding Unions, so pretty useful stuff in the main.

5 Pages and well over 1,000 views says that it is a popular read and serving a purpose for the community.

From what I can see on this thread (amongst others) is that the 'community' is mainly saying you are a complete fantasy merchant and purveyor of deception and prevarication. Sorry, but I HTH with the improvement of your particular and unusual 'condition'

I hope you don't think this is trolling Mr Lewis, as it's all useful information about somewhat strange people and the Internet in general. Each to their own eh?

So...
Reworded trolling without fact, just opinion that the union was out to 'scupper' your pay deal for no good reason. Nice
Anyway, without some kind of factual information from you, there's no point in investing any belief in what you are saying, you've only just revealed that you actually aren'y even a member of any union, well I say revealed, there's probably a better description for the way you post and the content of them .
Having you continuously come out with non-facts and anti-answers and then claim them as viable argument is something to behold though!

Look, for goodness sake, how difficult is it to ignore someone you believe to be either full of it, or that just plainly irritates you?

Taking this on face value, Pete posts, and doesn't want to disclose too much, well just move on, it's clearly of no real interest and won't give anything away. Don't get het up, just ignore it, and it'll fade away.

If it's all a farce (Pete you should be ashamed), then again, just ignore it and it'll die off. Constantly having something to reply with, just to stir, only keeps things going, and those doing it add to the issue.

If certain people only think Pete is here trolling, by replying to him, in whatever way, you only serve to keep a thread going. Just ignore it. He, as any other member, has the right at the moment to post here, so accept it. If you have no interest in him or his stories, then simply steer clear, it's not difficult.

It isn't difficult for 99.9% of the members of SN.

It isn't - Admin. can have the facts if they so wish ... on the strict understanding that they are confidential.

It does appear to be very difficult for some, quite why is a mystery to the majority - but there we are, we have a cross-section of the community here.

Lisa,

Had Pete not been doing this for the past 9 years, your post may have some merit.

If (and its a big if) Pete wanted to have a sensible and informative discussion on the impact of unions on pay reviews in the current economic climate, he could have posted in a more general manner, perhaps in the third party, rather than "look at me, I'm just great getting 6%".

He has a history of trolling and wind ups. He was banned IIRC form posting in certain technical forums for giving potentially damaging advice. He was banned outright for deliberately provoking the forum with nonsensical political posts.

I agree that everyone should just ignore him, however, that's fine for longer served members who know the score, but it doesn't work for newer members who take him at face value.

However, its fun calling Pete out on his "stories", watching him flounder and fail to respond with any credibility, or simply bail out when he can't cope

After all, if he can't stand the heat and all that...

It cuts both ways

1000 views and 5 pages could also suggest that folk (like me) are returning to see the petty keyboard wars between certain posters on the thread.

A little patronising there. I can see exactly what he's doing and don't see why I should stop posting on the thread. It's all a game, as I've said many times.
